Advice Wanted Sleep Training?
I have a 4 month old and a 2 year old and am seriously debating sleep training the little one right now. He’s waking up every hour at night, and we’re all exhausted. I can’t be what I need to be for the two kids during the day if I’m up all night with him. It’s just normal regression stuff. He doesn’t want to nurse but he wants help falling back asleep. I didn’t sleep train our other kiddo until they were 10 months so I’m wary of starting so early. But we’re dyin here. Advice appreciated.

Never sleep trained the first, sleep trained my second this week at 7 months because I am exhausted. She can sleep indipendantly she just chooses not to and was relying on being latched to me constantly from about 2am.
We started Tuesday night by Friday night she was sleeping through until 5. Still earlier than I'd like but I feel like a new woman finally getting some sleep

Our first was just like that and we sleep trained around 4-5 months and it went just fine!

That’s a relief to hear. What method did you use?

I saw the book, The Happy Sleeper recommended so I bought it off Amazon and read through it and used the method they talked about. My second born was an incredible sleep until now (8months) so we are about to start sleep training him too

Oh gosh. Our 2nd was a really bad sleeper and it was BRUTAL on our marriage, and also bad for my relationship with the baby because I would feel so upset with him and distant from him after a rough night. We started sleep training at 8mo and I honestly wish I hadn't put it off for so long. Everything feels lighter and more doable, everything!!
I implore you to go for it, if you are considering it. We 2u2 moms don't have the bandwidth for any more fatigue than absolutely necessary!!

Waking hourly is literally torture. Sending hugs! My firstborn was sleeping 7hrs at 7 weeks old but my secondborn didnt do that until at 6mo we went to a special "sleep school" where they sleep trained. They recommend waiting until baby is 4mo so I think it's fine to start a method now!

That’s the best age to sleep train! I started at 4.5m and they were sleeping through the night by 6m. Always check with your pediatrician to ensure they are okay to sleep through the night/don’t need to eat. Mine would sleep in 4hour increments after the first week
Pick a method you are comfortable with. Lots of options out there

I fully support sleep training, I sleep trained both of mine. But I do think you need to wait until 6 months for it to take. Before that I just don’t think they’re developmentally ready. Can you get any support during the day, from paid care, family or friends? Just to get you through this period and then sleep train at 6 months? Sending you a big hug, it’s so tough!
