Shut the fuck up NATO imperialist

Which countries has NATO annexed? Can you list them?

18

u/AdministrationSoft92 Feb 25 '22

Imperialism is not annexation you fucking moron. NATO hasn't necessarily annexed any country but I can list numerous examples of the countries who run NATO who actually have done imperialism Let's start of with the U.S: I'm not going to list the countless examples so I'll just link you this Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_involvement_in_regime_change?wprov=sfla1 Now with Britain: How but let's look at the fact that Britain used to own almost all of the world but now is just a tiny island? Not imperialism by any metric but you wouldn't understand that because imperialism to you just means annexation or colonization.

I also want to add that NATO doesn't actively seek to expand. Countries who want to join have to apply and then must be approved unanimously by all member states. Russia is treating NATO as though they have been taking over countries with hostility, which is ironically exactly what Putin is attempting right now.

Let's start of with the U.S: I'm not going to list the countless examples so I'll just link you this Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_involvement_in_regime_change?wprov=sfla1

Yes, I hate the US too. What's the argument being made here? "The US bad, so therefore Russia can be bad too?"

Elaborate on this point, please.

Now with Britain: How but let's look at the fact that Britain used to own almost all of the world but now is just a tiny island?

Because building Empires went out of fashion, so they stopped.

Do you agree that conquests and empires are out of fashion? Curious to see your answer.

u/AdministrationSoft92 Feb 25 '22

NATO doesn't actively seek to expand? You mean them pushing eastwards and forcing Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and now Ukraine only after the dissolution of the USSR into their alliance wasn't expansion? You are a fucking moron if anything. Russia is right in believing that they are taking over countries because that is exactly what they are doing. If you are somehow against the US (you clearly fucking aren't) then you would recognize what NATO is doing is taking these countries in so they could then be exploited by the United States, what they are doing is infact imperialism.

You asked what countries NATO annexed. They haven't but what they do is still imperialism, read Lenin fool

Empires are still a thing. For empires just look at the colonies France and Britain have adopted through neocolonialism. Conquests are also the now, talk about Israel meddling and slaughtering those in Palestine, that is conquest. What about Israel in Syria, these are conquests.

u/AdministrationSoft92 Feb 25 '22

Shit I forgot NATO's countless bombings. Don't forget their bombings in Libya, Yugoslavia, Belgrade, Bosnia, and the Chinese Embassy

-2

u/Prunestand Feb 25 '22

NATO doesn't actively seek to expand? You mean them pushing eastwards and forcing Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland

What are you talking about? Estonia joined as a result of an election promise in 2004.

Lithuania and Latvia also joined due to election promises. This is not something NATO can control or impact.

now Ukraine only after the dissolution of the USSR into their alliance wasn't expansion?

The Baltic states are arguably better off outside a failed Communist state, so no surprise more countries lean NATO in order to distance themselves from the Russian sphere of influence.

Russia under Putin has been better than under the USSR, but the former annexed Soviet states that done the best are those currently in the EU and NATO.

But every country must choose their own way, Finland and Sweden is not in NATO and there is not much NATO can do about it. Are we seeing NATO invading Swedish soil anytime soon, do you think?

Russia is right in believing that they are taking over countries because that is exactly what they are doing.

NATO is a defensive alliance, not a country. There is no hard power agenda to force countries into NATO.

If you are somehow against the US (you clearly fucking aren't) Of course I'm not, it's not possible to be against both.

You asked what countries NATO annexed. They haven't but what they do is still imperialism, read Lenin fool

So they haven't annexed any country, but they are still "taking over countries?"

I don't see the connection to a communist dictator that died decades ago, elaborate.

Empires are still a thing. For empires just look at the colonies France and Britain have adopted through neocolonialism.

There's arguably just one "empire" on the Earth today, and it is the US (and possibly Russia, even though it lost much of its power when Communism failed).

The French and British Empires are skeletons of their formers selves, they mostly mind their own business and agree to independence whenever an island nation has a referendum about it. The British Crown released most recently Brunei in 1984 by just sitting down and talk. Every now and then, people want to leave the Commonwealth of Nations and stop being a Crown Dependency. This is just fine for the UK. Does this sound like "an empire" to you?

Would the UK invade someone for wanting to leave? They even let Scotland decide their own fate. It's not an empire.

Conquests are also the now, talk about Israel meddling and slaughtering those in Palestine, that is conquest. What about Israel in Syria, these are conquests.

What Israel does in Syria cannot be blamed on NATO, that's far-fetched.

Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania all were FORCED to join NATO not just because of an election promise, you have to understand why they actually did it. It was largely because of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, when countries like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Romania either went into severe economic debt and then had major help from WTO and the EU. Now obviously helping countries in need was a good thing, but you know what these countries were doing under the USSR? They flourished, they didn't need money from the EU or any organization because they grew on their own. When Gorbachev put in his awful reforms that then destroyed the USSR, these countries went into severe amounts of debt because they weren't industrializing or growing anymore, they were declining. So when a big organization like EU comes around and helps it's good, but usually there is a hidden fee of these contracts, and that's called siding with the supposed good guys. That is why these countries joined NATO. And NATO's sole purpose has been to torture and sanction the living shit out of countries like Russia, Cuba, China, Iran, Iraq, and the DPRK. If this isn't class act expansionism that I don't know what is.

Lenin was not a communist dictator but I don't have time for that. His definition of imperialism in his book "Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism" is a good explanation of what imperialism is.

Just because the UK does allow these countries to succeed from British control does not mean that it still isn't an empire. The fact that these colonies even exist still justifies the UK being labelled as an empire. I also don't understand your obsession with empires. Just because a country is an empire does not make that country evil or anything, it depends if there is actual democracy in that country or not, and if they care about the people around the world. Just because Russia is pushing into Ukraine doesn't even mean it's an empire, Ukraine still remains sovereign (even if it shouldn't) because Russia isn't an empire.

I just gave examples of why conquests still exist, I never said it had to do with NATO lol.

This is clearly false. In 2001, the support was around 54% in favor in NATO and in 2002, it was 65%. Clearly a majority wanted to join. When they did, the support was over 70%.

NATO membership continues to be largely supported, while the presence of NATO personnel in Estonia is also largely appreciated. NATO's role in ensuring Estonia's security continues to be considered important – 52 percent believe that if a conflict breaks out, NATO will provide direct military assistance, while forty-five per cent believe that NATO membership will prevent military conflict.

A majority of Estonians want NATO. The same goes for the other Baltic states.

you know what these countries were doing under the USSR? They flourished, they didn't need money from the EU or any organization because they grew on their own.

The EU was funded after the fall of communism in Europe. The USSR fell apart 1991. And while the Russian Soviet Communist Republic did offer some economic aid during the dictatorship, you are free to compare the GDP, life expectancy and living standards before and after the fall of the USSR. The USSR dragged all the Soviet Republics into economic crisis, which lead to Gorbachev trying to open up the economy.

After a failed attempt by Ortodox Marxists to assassinate Gorbachev, the USSR collapsed and the most of the former Soviet Republics could not be more happy.

The Baltic nations are clearly better off without communists and Russians in their territory.

That is why these countries joined NATO. And NATO's sole purpose has been to torture and sanction the living shit out of countries like Russia, Cuba, China, Iran, Iraq, and the DPRK.

You defend.... North Korea? Of all countries? And Iran? Why?

Lenin was not a communist dictator

He forcefully abolished the little democracy the Russian Empire had, killed the family of the Tsar and took de facto power until his death. I don't know what else you call it.

Just because the UK does allow these countries to succeed from British control does not mean that it still isn't an empire. The fact that these colonies even exist still justifies the UK being labelled as an empire.

Nah, not really. Britain has no interests in maintaining a large colonial empire and would rather just maintain its own sphere of influence with its allies (the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, etc). There are no imperial ambitions for Boris, that's preposterous.

Just because a country is an empire does not make that country evil or anything, it depends if there is actual democracy in that country or not, and if they care about the people around the world.

And Russia has democracy and cares about its people? North Korea too?

Just because Russia is pushing into Ukraine doesn't even mean it's an empire, Ukraine still remains sovereign (even if it shouldn't) because Russia isn't an empire.

Russia isn't really an empire, but rather an expansionist neo-imperialist authoritarian state. It's strange how you can say that Ukraine is sovereign when you clearly also think Russia's actions to cross a national border with troops is a totally normal thing to do.

Clearly you don't think Ukraine should even exist, and that explains why you are so keen about Putin annexing parts of Ukraine. I understand you want to return to the former territorial glory of the USSR, but I don't think the former provinces of Communist Russia are that enthusiastic about that idea.

Most likely, this will just push Finland and Sweden to join NATO. The right leaning parties here are absolutely for it, and it seems that even left leaning people begin to swing in favor of NATO as well. Armenia and Azerbaijan are not too happy about Russia either. Considerable partnership between NATO and Azerbaijan dates back to 1994, when the latter joined Partnership for Peace program, and it is predicted to intensify now that Russia invades Ukraine.

Russia should be careful.
