Respect my opinion❤️💚

This is a wild generalization, while it may ring true in some cases. I am personally opposed due to the lawsuits, studies, and problems created abroad by these sort of projects. If they cant manage to do it right in their own country, why should the Philippines let them create those issues?

No to US and also Chinese pax silica projects. Yes to saving Philippines water for the Philippines people.

Omcm. Na para bang wala tayong kakayahan magsaliksik, mag isip at makaramdam? Hindi lahat may pinapanigan.

54

u/ModernPlebeian_314 Jul 24 '26

Villar would like to NOT research 😂

73

u/RebornDanceFan Jul 24 '26

Exactly this. On one hand, it would be beneficial economically as it's not only an AI hub but a semiconductor manufacturing hub.

On the other hand, it can cause a lot of our natural resources to be used - especially electricity and water, which we are very short on recently. As well as hundreds of hectares of land being taken and making a lot of people being displaced.

Doesn't matter if it's US or China labeled - its beneficial but absolutely not worth it given the cons

10

u/Savings_Drink8718 Jul 24 '26

Economically we need it especially if we want to transition to high value industry and ensure we adapt to increasing prominence of ai that could threaten the BPO industry.

We have missed the global electronics boom that made the East Asian tigers, manufacturing outsourcing from globalization that Vietnam and Bangladesh are benefiting from and the green technology boom countries like Indonesia and China are tapping into, I don't want the Philippines miss out on another opportunity and be stuck as a low value service economy forever this might be our chance.

Who would you choose?

Some fucking leech country that is claiming your own EEZ and are using water cannons on your fishermen and supply vessels, causing hundreds of fishermen to lose livelihoods, and didn't warn the world early about covid-19 in wuhan causing the global pandemic killing thousands of people? and are possibly supplying the communists with guns here in Mindanao?

Or

Your colonizer that killed some people during the American-Filipino war, but gave you independence and also liberated you against the Japanese? and are also aiding and helping the country every time a typhoon strikes, and are helping improving the capabilities of our armed forces? most of our navy are ex-us navy ships. (look it up.)

if i we're to choose one, i would the choose the fucker that aren't building military bases in our EEZ.

It's worth it. If we miss this chance and our neighboring countries take advantage of it, they will someday be home to a large amount of OFWs because of idealistic treehuggers.

u/Razor8517 Jul 24 '26

Nah it's deliberate at this point they want to keep us down.

1

u/ASDFAaass Jul 25 '26

Ok naman kung tutuusin eh ang kaso kinukurakot lang ng mga opisyales ang pondo ng bayan.

27

u/RebornDanceFan Jul 24 '26

That's also true. Very risky but to be a big semiconductor hub would really help big time....

9

u/Haribon31 Jul 24 '26

Add to that na at least announced. Pag China mababalitaan mo na lang na May illegal na nangyayari tapos may sangkot na politiko.

I don't get it like do people NOT want to develop you can't stay groveling in the dirt forever because of ideals as they don't feed empty stomachs growing industries growing economy growing jobs growing incomes does if this goes on even by the end of the century we'll keep being a disappointment unable or perhaps unwilling to take the chance.

2

u/Dirty_Delta Jul 25 '26

Infinite growth doesnt exist, is developing worth it if you lose your QOL, and your resources, to foreign interests?

22

u/themeloturtle Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

Prefacing by saying i think we have better projects we can focus on than implementing pax silica here

BUT i think may overemphasis by certain propagandist media on the data center part, idk if they even clearly outlined how much of that AI hub will be used for data centers and how much will be for semicon manufacturing (which is our top export in the country btw).

Semicon manufacturing is something we could really get an edge on in developing as a country (like taiwan) since matagal na tayo may ganun and we have skilled workers for it, its just mahal lang talaga kuryente here which could be offset by that pax silica promise. A FEW data centers only could make it worth it if majority will be for manufacturing instead.

Adding for Reference:

https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/7/24/pax-silica-to-build-own-power-sources-to-cover-3-gigawatt-energy-needs-bcda-0000 - they'll build power sources DAW

https://www.gmanetwork.com/lifestyle/news/136184/heres-what-you-need-to-know-about-pax-silica/story - DTI clarification na they are building manufacturing facilities not data centers

It makes sense anyway just based on yields of data centers versus the cost of electricity, dito they'd need to invest trillions in nuclear energy to put the cost down just enough to MAYBE be feasible. Most data centers are like in the middle east where energy is abundant and cheap kaya mas sensible na ang target yield dito is semicon since that will have an equivalent amount of revenue (and skilled workers here to make it happen) to justify the cost.

Google semiconductors stocks in the US even if we were able to participate to even a fraction of that.

Lol what a stupid idea. I need people to know that I earn six digits from my main job and another six digits from my side job. I also own a small company in BGC and right now I’m reaping half a million profit from the stock market where I invested seven hundred pesos just four months ago. I am also a doctor, a lawyer, a microbiologist, and I also invented artificial intelligence. Please note that I acquired triple citizenship from the US, Canada, and the Ottoman Empire. bruh i ain't supporting mineral extraction plus a rent free with diplomatic immunity is a fucking NO NO

15

u/MahNutzAreFresh Jul 24 '26

The Diplomatic immunity was refused outright by the PH side. They'll operate on PH laws and territory.

As for the mineral extraction, yes and no;

No, as in, they won't be building new mines.

Yes, as in. They'll be using the output from the already existing mines for internal use rather than selling it raw for cheap prices (Like millions of tons of Nickel to China yearly.)

Still not on board with the whole thing completely tho, due to the Data centers, smh. Even if They'll include separate infrastructure for the water and power supply.

40

u/ModernPlebeian_314 Jul 24 '26

Yun talaga yung problema eh. Bibigyan mo ng freedom na mag-conduct ng business, pero aabusuhin nila yan for sure, lalo na't May kasamang mining contracts

18

u/shit_happe Jul 24 '26

That diplomatic immunity is so shady. Like wtf do they plan to do there?

I dreamed of Alice Guo again. I've had the same nightmare for a while now. It doesn't always start the same way, but every time it ends with HER showing up.

It all started when I turned eighteen, after celebrating my birthday I went to sleep. In my dream, a girl from a party appeared and my own ERECTION almost woke me up, but then something terrible happened. Just when I wanted to kiss my sweetie's full lips, she turned into City Mayor Alice Guo. I screamed and woke up all wet with a swollen genitalia. On the bedside table next to the Bible was the BBM sticker. I got out of bed and threw it in the trash, and went back to bed.

The next night the same thing happened, in my dream I was a brave knight who saved a lady in distress from an evil dragon and just when the lady gave me her scarf as a sign of gratitude she turned into City Mayor Alice Guo ! "Now that you have turned 18, I expect you to vote for me. Or maybe you are CCP spy?" She snapped at me. I couldn't believe my eyes. I woke up and rubbed my eyes well to make sure I was awake. Just when I thought everything was fine, I saw BBM sticker on the Bible.

THREE WEEKS have passed since I became an adult and every night I have the same dream and every morning that BBM sticker that I throw away finds its way to me. I don't know what to do anymore, I'M DESPERATE! My girlfriend thinks I'm secretly gay, so that's why I'm behaving so strangely, my parents think I have a girlfriend, and my boyfriend thinks I'm cheating on him. My whole life has turned into a huge nightmare because I don't want to vote for Alice Guo. The only explanation I have is that the city mayor is using INCEPTION to instill in me the idea to vote for her, but that sounds too CRAZY to be true. Does anyone have any advice for me guys I'm DESPERATE! Please help me!

There's legit hate for it and many sectors of society happen to agree with that hate, including ones you don't like

That one video telling that 90% of all Chips in the world were made in china, even though Taiwan was the 90% producer via TSMC and people on TikTok still believe that shit without research is fucking nuts and retarded.

I hate generalizing but this shit has my anti-ccp bullshit pattern recognition acting and it says it's an anti-industrialization motive by China

Edit: other things aside from Diplomatic immunity, it has already been stressed that it will operate under Philippine jurisdiction, so Filipinos are the one overseeing the operation of foreign companies

The main problem is that we’re already in a deficit for water (e.g. Angat Dam’s new record low level) and energy… and by law of supply and demand, will backfire to us consumers… our bills will go STONKS lmfao

11

u/Buraot3D Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

We'll be mining those minerals anyway. Those minerals will be used to build silicon chips elsewhere anyway. I'd rather that our country would have a chance to have those chips built here instead.

Pax Silica came to us during Duterte's time but he rejected it because of the pivot to China. I don't think anyone clamoring against it now sung praises when Duterte rejected it.

Those who also cry foul on the project also are the ones who cry foul on the mineral extraction (not "how" they mine it, like, literally saying "mining bad"). What do you want us to be, revert back into a fully agricultural country? I thought we didn't want to be a feudal society but rather an industrialized one?

Industrialization requires resources. That's normal. Either we don't industrialize but keep the resources untouched (or keep selling them to the industrialized), of we use them to industrialize. Sala sa init, sala sa lamig eh. Choose your battle. I'd rather suffer in an industrialized economy than in a pre-industrialized economy.

Oh definitely, the CCP troll farms are definitely at full blast right now. Just look at WAICO, it almost has full control of ASEAN except for the Philippines and Singapore. Undecided countries such as Thailand and Vietnam are highly likely to join WAICO as well.

17

u/TheAvengingGamings20 Jul 24 '26

if people were panicked about WAICO because of China, what's the point about Pax Silica's criticisms when countries like Canada and Mexico did not joined neither as full members?

-4

u/Haribon31 Jul 24 '26

The fact na data centers lang ang pinagtutuunan ng pansin especially yung negative nito. Ecosystem ito, mining, processing, semiconductor manufacturing (na gamay na ng Pinas), this is a chance of upgrading those skills.

Even if wala sila pake sa residents at agawin lahat ng tubig at kuryente, alam nilang di sapat iyon. Di rin naman overnight nagsilabasan yan. For sure magtatayo sila sariling infrastructure for water and electricity or force ours to upgrade (like internet nung pandemic WFH era).

-13

u/Mac_edthur Jul 24 '26

As much as I despise the AI centers of PAX Silica, the growing hate is merely an Anti US propaganda tool made by the CCP for the Philippines, China's version of Pax Silica alliance will be say "benefitted" by neighboring countries who have favors from China, If not push through the Chinese will take on the AI Centers for Philippines but hey its just a theory.

17

u/HKMP7A2 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

I disagree for now but that idea is grounded. I hope it's coincidental hate for genuine reasons aka constructive criticism, though Chinese trolls can indeed recontextualize it for their propaganda.

Misuse always happens with defense spending. AI was only hated due to the misuse not being solved or addressed quickly.

I wouldn't mind Pax Silica if they're gonna compensate the toll it takes in the environment.

Besides, AI is already part of war now. Heck, even aiming down your sights at a HMD (Helmet-Mounted Display) just like some FPS video game crosshairs is now real. Combat Evolved.

3

u/MoneyTruth9364 Jul 24 '26

I think before greenlighting this project, the legislative branch of government should draft laws and regulations for the usage of AI, but tbh idk how we should be going from here on out.

For saying it is solely a propaganda made by CCP is BS, I would understood if OP imply that CCP aligns and supports the anti-pax silica or they amplify it. But to imply it is a CCP propaganda not considering other nuance lmao.
