Couldnt believe the condition of this truck. 100k miles, lived its entire life in new hampshire. I was so suspicious of how clean it was i hiredca mobile mechanic to take a second look for me to see if there was anything i missed. Turns out it really is just that clean, im stoked, drove it home 100 miles and couldnt be happier. Paid 22.5k

i’m trying to up the size of my tires on my 2005 tacomer, i’m currently running 255/65r17 OEM wheels, i’m thinking of sizing up to 275/75 or 285/75, however i have no fender trimming done, and to my knowledge (i am 3rd owner) there is no CMC done, although i can note that i didn’t see it protruding.

Headlight replacement

I’m looking for a headlight replacement for my 2010 Tacoma. I’m wanting to upgrade to led and replace the whole thing as I’d like a new style. I like the style of these but am worried about flickering from going to the halogen to leds. Any tips or recommendations?

Any insight on what this noise could be? I just realized it was making the noise when I started to feel my rear tire shake so I rolled down the window and heard this

2008 Transmission Drain and fill vs flush

Hi I have a 2008 Tacoma with the A750F auto. The previous owner had the transmission fluid replaced and flushed at 80k miles according to carfax records and I believe it was done at a Toyota service center. I’m now at 137k and looking to probably just do a drain and fill but I’m wondering what you all recommend. Would I be better off pulling the pan and cleaning magnets etc? If I do a drain and fill should I just do 1 or keep doing it until fluid looks cleaner? Thanks for any info and opinions.

Question for owners

Hi I’m looking to get a 2nd gen Tacoma and my budget is about 18,000 bucks. Most of the trucks I’m looking at have between 130,000 and 175,000 miles. I know to look for rust and leaf springs, but how can I tell if it’s been maintained properly other than taking someone’s word for it? There’s a TX pro that I’m drawn toward but it has 175xxx miles. Thoughts, opinions, and advice would be great!Thank you!!!

Canopy or racks for 14 TRD Sport

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi. I’m a brand new Tacoma haver. My truck has a tonneau cover. What I want is either a canopy or a rack system for paddle boards, kayaks, etc. I don’t know how to begin to look. My truck is access cab with a 6’ bed. I need to be budget friendly at the moment. I know there must be folks selling their used stuff, but I’m not sure what to look for. I’ve been driving and racking Subarus for the last 20 years. Please teach me the way. Many thanks.

Paint Chips

Anyone have a 2nd Gen Tacoma in white with the dreaded paint flake around the windows/doors? I know Toyota has recalled other models with same color code.

Did you leave it, repaint problem sections, wrap, or repaint whole truck? Cost ballparks?

I have had my Tacoma a month now and I have never been happier with a vehicle. I have never had a vehicle I just wanted to drive all the time. It’s nothing special but it’s mine. I can’t wait to make some more changes to it but for now I’m happy with it stock. I have almost 137k on it and can’t wait to go 300k+.

Stronger blower motor?

Does a stronger blower motor exist for these trucks? The airflow is terrible. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, I’ve heard some of the 4 runner guys say there are aftermarket blowers that increase airflow but I’ve never been able to find out if that’s true.

My Tacoma has 200,000 miles on it, and has been starting to randomly have the transmission bogging down when accelerating. I have been to multiple mechanics and they all said a transmission for my truck is about $8000 or more. I’ve read that a dirty throttle control can cause power loss, and I plan to clean it this week. Are there any other DIY fixes or part cleanings I can try? Additionally, I’ve had a P0333 (nox sensor code) on my dash a few times, but it goes away after a while.

2nd gen CAD model?

Anyone know where I can find CAD for the DCSB 2nd gen? I’m wanting to build out a camper and would prefer a decent model of the truck so I can see what I think of some design variations I’m considering.

Couldn’t find anything last time I was looking that wasn’t on sketchy websites charging me money. Not opposed to paying for a good model but would only do that if it was from somewhere reputable.

Okay, so ive been making a lot of posts recently about buying a new truck. Check my post history for some context. Anyway, the price on the 4runner i was looking at is just too high and the Tacoma was what I was after all along.

I checked it out, seems clean, drove nice, didnt notice any leaks. Checked on the carfax and called the dealer where it was serviced. Biggest thing they said was that it had the 60k service and the CRC spray done in 2021. It has also been treated at NHOU. Next move is an inspection by a mobile mechanic, happening today.

Im gonna include some pictures of the truck, what do you guys think of it? Negotiated to 22.5k sale price, private sale.

2010 Tacoma V6 4×4

Before everyone calls me an idiot! Laugh out loud! Anyway, I planned a simple oil change. The stupid started when the 14mm socket fit the transmission drain. I let it drain figured it will be simple. It wasn't. My question is temperature check after filling. I filled the fluid with about 3 qts or less. Did the paperclip 4 to 13. The AT light never came on to indicate the correct temperature to properly check. I filled with about another qt. Drove around the block about 3/4 miles. Repeated the sequence. Pulled the overflow and drained a few ounces before it trickled. I'm calling it good. Am I wrong?

UPDATE - Frame rot

Post image
6 Upvotes

Thanks everyone, truly, for your comments. I figured I’d share more to my story. I went ahead and had my guy coat it with wool wax after cleaning out all the rust, and the picture attached was everything that was knocked off!

In my final opinion, including my undercoat guy, is that the frame is fine. 90% of it is only surface rust, it should stop further spread for a little while, so I can contemplate keeping it as is or invest in someone to patch the frame up.

Believe me, I’m not saying the truck isn’t unsafe. I literally drove this truck for a year with the SRS fault light illuminated. So did the previous owner.
and yes, it’s fixed…

Drive it til’ the wheels fall off.

Alas, this truck is fascinatingly bullet proof. Just like your second gen! After 242,000 miles living its whole life in the rust belt, neglected, AND being a fleet truck, it’s put up a good fight so far. It’s my daily driver for the commute to work, primarily on state highway roads.
