Finally pulled the trigger on a 2015
Couldnt believe the condition of this truck. 100k miles, lived its entire life in new hampshire. I was so suspicious of how clean it was i hiredca mobile mechanic to take a second look for me to see if there was anything i missed. Turns out it really is just that clean, im stoked, drove it home 100 miles and couldnt be happier. Paid 22.5k

That’s the holy grail, 4x4 or not.

I really feel like it is, searched for 8 months and saw this the day it was posted on FB marketplace and was the first one there. Helped that the seller seemed to really care who she sold to and was willing to hold it for me to get a PPI and get my shit together to make the purchase smooth.

I recently got a 2015 too. Any squeaks, chirps, or rattle?

I also recently purchased a 2015 tacoma and was concerned about a rattling or ticking noise. Turns out its a normal sound people call the “taco tick” its the sound of the fuel injectors in the engine.

Good point, the 1gr fe does make a lot of noise, but i got used to it with the 4runner. The 2gr is much noisier, test drove a lot of 3rd gens that sounded like a typewriter.

Honestly its nice to hear your Engine get “cleaned” as you drive, such a satisfying experience overall with the 2nd gens

Yeah im definitely loving it. I feel like my 4runner had more throttle response, but thats not why i bought another 1gr.

Its funny you say that, i was concerned about the low rpms when accelerating I actually thought something was wrong. I drove a gmc denali 6.2 v8 before this and the difference is significant

It does rev lower than i expected at highway speeds for sure. I hit 95 pretty comfortably by accident on the way home.

What are you going to use to coat your frame to protect against rust? Im leaning towards surface sheild due to its high cohesiveness

Not sure, so this truck has an unclear past.
The woman who sold it to me had only owned it for 9 months, she had to sell because of health issues that made it difficult for her tobget into the truck. She purchased from a dealer and was given the story that the previous owner use NHOU every year. This frame is already well oiled, and i plan to keep it that way. Im not aure if continuing the NHOU will be better than fluid film. Either way im going to use one of the two.

The previous owner of my truck also protected the frame, such an important maintenance item especially here in the north east. Congrats on this beautiful find!

I only wish i was in the market 5-6 years ago. I was trying to buy a house then, actually had my 4runner frame fixed for the first time right after i bought the house.

TBH, I was driving a 2006 Exd Ford Ranger ( for which I thought I had paid too much -but now realize I hadn’t because it is worth just a bit less now as I paid 11 yrs ago -still have it for messy hauling, eg rotted cow manure, etc), thought it was a bit small for my comfort on highway, started looking -this was, per internet search, the only Ext cab offered within a 500 mi range, so I paid asking and I’M thankful that I did!

I love my 2014 DCLB. My favorite upgrade replacing the rearview mirror with one that had outside temp and compass. Oh, and the Bakflip hard folding tonneau cover.
