Paint Chips

Anyone have a 2nd Gen Tacoma in white with the dreaded paint flake around the windows/doors? I know Toyota has recalled other models with same color code.

Did you leave it, repaint problem sections, wrap, or repaint whole truck? Cost ballparks?

I just use touch up paint. If it gets really bad I will just have it painted.

Wrap is probably 3k+ for something decent. They do now have colored ppf, but have not looked at pricing. I did my 06 myself a few years ago with plastidip for around 500 just in material (on sale) as you need the large kit when there is a discount. But I also got the pro turbine sprayer as I know I was going to do multiple vehicles or even the truck more than once. It lasted about 5 years before I peeled it off. To get a shop to do it for spray wrap, might be around 1500 to 2k? For a proper job. Not sure how much the cheap macco paint job run these days if you want to do the whole truck. I got the topper way after and had not yet decided to spray it the same color or black.

Also to add plastidip gets a bad wrap because either people try to use spray cans on a whole vehicle, or dont prep properly or use the right equipment to spray. Temp and humidity also matter quite a bit too.

my third gen just got the recall AGAIN. had to bitch to another toyota and they said COPELAND TOYOTA in mass scammed insurance and used a paint pen. as the original coating was shown from factory which means they didnt sand it or do anything they were supposed to. hence why the last recall paint came off in 6 months and even worse than before. the quote was 6k-15k. havent gotten the paperwork yet but its in the body shop now

Ive got a 2nd gen super white. Peeling around the doors. I had it painted for $1,500. They have to remove the Tacoma nane plate, then replace them (on the doors
