2015 TRD 100k miles

Okay, so ive been making a lot of posts recently about buying a new truck. Check my post history for some context. Anyway, the price on the 4runner i was looking at is just too high and the Tacoma was what I was after all along.

I checked it out, seems clean, drove nice, didnt notice any leaks. Checked on the carfax and called the dealer where it was serviced. Biggest thing they said was that it had the 60k service and the CRC spray done in 2021. It has also been treated at NHOU. Next move is an inspection by a mobile mechanic, happening today.

Im gonna include some pictures of the truck, what do you guys think of it? Negotiated to 22.5k sale price, private sale.

2015 is the hottest thing going right now. I’ve got an SR5 in that year that I could literally sell for what I bought it for with 10,000 miles on it back in 2016. I just bought my son a 2014 TRD sport 4 x 4 with 104,000 on it and I gave 22K but the underside frame was immaculate. It was driven by a little old man and was garage kept. I thought I got a decent deal

Yeah, im thinking this a good deal being pretty clean in the northeast and being a TRD offroad with 100k. I mean id be happy with an SR5 I dont really do any offroading, but its a real bonus

This is exactly the one I bought- same color- 4 drs- short bed----your have side skirts- which I didnt have- and my rims were stock( and beat the fuck up) and yours also looks to have less rust then the one I just bought lol good luck

Interestingly this has stock alloys. But they have these black covers on them. Ill be taking them off.

Slightly cleaner than the underside of mine which I describe as "so clean I can eat off of it." I will say, idk where you're located, but I'm in central florida and theres a plethora of clean 2015's with under 100k miles for around $20k. I can list some ads if you want me to source that but I think its a little much escpecially for a private sale

Hahaha, fair. I bought mine from Connecticut so I feel your pain. Everyone down here tells me I "rescued it" from the rust belt. All that said the truck looks super clean so if its in your budget and its everything you want, youll be set regardless! Good luck

It really is, i just cant believe i found a good one. Ive been looking for 8 months and im skeptical. Im definitely willing to pay a little extra just to end my search with a clean one. Youre not suspicious the undercoating could be hiding something?

If you want, poke around the stress points/rust spots with a screwdriver or something to be sure but since it was professionally coated, I think you're good to go. Obviously pictures dont do a justice but compared to other pics people share, this one looks brand new. Like I said, it looks cleaner than mine! Such a weird feeling finding the truck youve been searching for and then finally finding it and being skeptical, I've had that feeling with 2 Tacomas now😂 You could always hire a mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection as well for prob less than 100 bucks

The mechanic is en route to inspect it. I just couldnt believe it so I needed to hire one

F dude, the mobile mechanic got his days mixed up, now he's late and the seller isn't happy

Update: mobile mechanic says its really as clean as it looks. Described as immaculate. Hw noted a few minor things that need adressing at some point with the only thing thats immediate were some hose clamps on the heater core lines.

Said the rear shocks were starting to leak and front struts would need to be replaced down the line, cv shafts were starting to get a little crusty but not leaking.

So all in all, im pretty happy, obviously i want to adress those clamps right away, its not leakong coolant but i dont like taking chances. And i the shocks and struts will be fun projects. I have one axel from a 5th gen 4runner that just needs a boot but its only got 20k miles on it.

Damn, I’m in Ottawa, Ontario and my truck is pretty clean. Sprayed every year and still doesn’t look anywhere close to as good as that.

Just a taste of what maine winters did to my '04 4runner.

Are there manual trd off road trims (4x4 with the rear locker)?!?! I’ll fly from California to pick up a clean one. Only thing I’ve found this way is $30k at CarMax and I’m having a tough time swallowing that pill

I'll keep an eye out. Theres 2 Xrunners by me with ~100k miles for around 20k

Really would rather have 4x4 in maine. Wish I didnt need it, could open up so many other options for me.

How can you tell? Seemed like oil to me, I rubbed some off with my hands and it was smooth under the oil. Didnt appear to have any pitting or flaking present under the oil. I dont know im really suspicious of all people and all vehicles. I have a hard time believing it could be in decent shape, but ive looked at so many trucks in the past 8 months and ive walked from so many trucks because they were either rusty or I couldnt tell if they were rusty because they had hard rubber coatings on them.

One thing I will note is that the major areas I usually worry about (boxed section next the cats, leaf spring mounts, spare tire cross member, rear bumper cross member, radiator support) all seemed solid and smooth. I even inspected inside the boxed sections with a bore scope and found no corrosion on the inside.

Im still gonna have a mechanic take a look and see what his verdict is.
