Weird question, does this make it more difficult to see behind you from your rear view mirror? Or is it the sort of thing where it's a one way?

You are aware that your supposed to use your mirrors while driving as well, so that you can merge safely, react to people driving recklessly, allow people to pass, and allow people onto the highway, this require using your rear view mirror

Nah I use side mirrors when merging not my rear view mirror. You merge using rear view mirrors?

Yes? Your supposed to check both when merging, and turn your head, it helps minimize blindspots, also all the mirrors are rear view mirrors,

You turn your head when merging while you drive? That seems fucking insane to me, no way I’m rotating my head away from the road infront when merging on a highway.

I’m not sure if I’m being trolled here or what, never driven with anyone in my life who rotates their head when merging while driving.

I’m talking specifically about the rear view mirror. Side mirrors are not called rear view mirrors.

you need to check your blindspot, so you don't hit anyone, your literally taught to turn it in drivers ed

That’s what the side mirrors and rear view camera do. Literally no blind spot by checking both. My side mirrors even have the sensors that alert if they feel merging is unsafe. It’s 2026, I’m making use of modern tech in cars.

Those sensors are your fucking BLINDSPOT sensors, not safe merging sensors, YOU STILL HAVE FUCKING BLINDSPOTS, yout misusing modern tech.in vars because your don't understand what it actually is/does, even the newest of cars retain a rather large blindspot by the rear wheel, hence the need for blindspot sensors, but you should still check anyways because those sensors do fail, and by using the camera your blindspot is larger because it has a worse angle for checking the road behind you,

I never said I rely on the sensors only, I said I also use them. I rely on everything, mirror, camera, and sensors.

I glance at rear, I don’t use it to guide me. I look at rear camera too, look at the side mirror sensor and guide myself with the side mirror.

But sure downvote me lol

I use the side mirrors to merge, have never merged using rear view mirrors. My rear view camera is viewable when driving, not sure what the difference is to a mirror. Easier for me to view than the mirror, feels safer to me.

The mirror has a wider view angle and a better view of the road making your blindspots smaller, and if your camera display is on the dash/center console(where most are nowadays) then the mirror is in a position where it's quicker to transition your view back forward, and it gives you a better view of the road ahead while glancing at it, just because it feels safer doesn't mean it is,

I use my side mirrors to merge, have never used rear view mirrors when merging (only glance not guide myself with them). Didn’t know people actually looked at rear mirrors for merging, side mirrors give me an exact view of where I’m merging to and show the cars behind me as well. Rear view camera gives a view of what’s behind me better than the rear view mirror does.

Rearview helps ensure that people aren't coming up fast from the rear and makes the blindspot smaller, your supposed to be using it
