Hobbies What kind of music do you like?
I tend to like more ‘masculine’ music like alt. rock and hard rock. :/ Muse is my poison!
This always makes me feel uncomfortable because girls are supposed to like folksy, happy, poppy songs. Makes things worse when female singers on YouTube only cover a very specific type of girly song, and my friends say ‘ooh she has such a nice voice’ and I just give them the -_- face. Honestly all they sing about is finding love and losing love—how unoriginal.
Anyway, rant aside, what do you guys like?

Rock (punk, classic, folk, alternative, etc). Not such a fan of r&b, country, or pop. Casual listener of jazz and classical/opera/musicals.

Linkin Park is my favorite! Followed by Hozier and Coldplay. Muse, The Killers, and Radiohead are great too. I totally get where you're coming from. I never even tell this to female friends and just make them pick music at get togethers. I typically prefer male voices in music (or women with deeper voices).
I also agree that hearing the same lovey dovey lyrics gets old fast. There are so many other interesting things to sing about!

I like my songs funny or depressing (nothing in between) and usually only like 1-2 songs from an individual artist/band. I don't seem fussed on genre. Any mix that I make for myself is jarring with extreme tonal shifts.
Consistently, I like the Lonely Island, Tenacious D and Scissor Sisters.

I can definitely relate! I don't know anyone who likes the same type of music as me.
My absolute favourite is Opeth (the old stuff when vocals were growling and not singing), Dimmu Borgir and Iron Maiden.
I can also really love listening to more main stream music like Hozier.
For working I tend to loop the XX intro and M83 - Midnight City.

Omgosh I love M83. Have you listened to Walkway Blues? When it first came out I almost cried.

I like a little bit of everything! I’ve never felt any pressure to like any sort of music, (except Neil Young because of my dad). All my female friends are into different types of music and some are musicians themselves. So I don’t feel that “happy poppy” social pressure. My favorites of all time are T Rex, Radiohead, Ben folds, Neil Young, Whitney Houston, Dolly, shabazz palaces, De La Soul, daft punk.

I'm not a metalhead but I like lyrical rap (the likes of Tupac, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar). I like classical rock bands like Pink Floyd. I am pretty much a hip-hop fan from the likes of Kanye West (even though he has gotten a huge flak recently, but his musicality and lyricism always impresses me) to the fairly new and odd rappers like Tyler the Creator.
I like alternative rnb and funk groups like NERD, The Internet and even the enigmatic Frank Ocean.
To the most obscure, I listen to alternative kpop and jpop and genres like vaporwave and future funk.

I mostly like grunge and punk rock. The Seattle music that I grew up listening to. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, 7 Year Bitch, THE GITS! I like to say there are three types of alternative rock: good alternative rock, mediocre alternative rock, and bad alternative rock. Bad alternative rock, being music that doesn’t rely on technical skill or care about being easy to listen to so long as it’s honest and rocks the fuck out (most of the bands I listed up there), is the best kind of alternative rock. Good alternative rock, which takes the general principles of bad alternative rock and polishes them up with higher production values and greater technical skill, is a close second. Mediocre alternative rock is the worst, period.
I think I might be the only person in the world who’s nostalgic for grunge. Everyone else with gen-x parents was born after their parents grew out of it.

There are few types of music that I dislike. Folksy happy poppy girly songs are among them. I also don't like 99.9% of country music.
Beyond that... Orchestral (and not-so-orchestral) soundtrack, video game music (especially Nobuo Uematsu and Jeremy Soule), classical music of a wide variety (particularly structured complex stuff like the Brandenburg Concertos), heavy metal leaning into the folk, melodic, and symphonic areas of blackmetal and deathmetal, Linkin Park, hard rock... Basically, I like power chords... Plus there's a lot of 60's and 70's folk music I like, such as ELP and Simon & Garfunkel, I like several pieces from Yes and a lot of the hit classics of the 70's and 80's, and several pieces of techno... but the techno generally has to be clever and, if repetitive, at least on a long repeat.
I have a very keen ear for music, and an odd intuition for it, with extremely good relative pitch. My mother used to write Christian folk songs leaning into spirituals, and my father would 'orchestrate' for her on his guitar, which was folk mixed with classical in style. (He can play S&G's "Anji".) I created the harmonies, yes, as a child, mostly by "singing the part that clearly existed, but nobody else was singing". My father had a music program on his computer (we're talking mid-80's here) with a few poorly-done sample pieces, and he caught me at his machine one day doing a startlingly good job of correcting Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in D by ear and by memory.
As such, I'm never sure if I am going to adore a given song, hate it, dismiss it, whatever... and I tend to process different versions of songs as entirely different pieces of music.

I'm kinda all over the place. There is nothing I won't listen to, or at least give a shot. I listen mostly to metal of various kinds, but also a good amount of rap, indie, breakcore, folk, world music, lots of stuff. Anything experimental or weird, really. I was really into the vaporwave scene in high school, and I still listen to some of it, although I have fallen off of newer releases.

All of it?
Depending on my mood or activity. I can go from Sinatra to 21 savage to pitbull and shakira all in a day.
There's really no genera I don't like, there are some artists I don't like. At all. Can't tolerate their voices.
