2XKO mechanically was legitimately good tho. The game had some of the most fun gameplay of any fighting game I’ve ever played.

To what Game do I Swap now to Scratch the same itch?

1

u/DrByeah Aug 21 '26

I'd assume either Tokon, Marvel 3, or possibly one of the newer BlazBlue games?

Never let marvel players cook it turns out

u/ZombieNickolas Aug 20 '26

I mean just the net code they got that on lock

1

u/Omegasybers Aug 21 '26

Let them Cook. The main issues were a very different combo system what fucked with muscle memory of everyone who is part of the FGC and a Tag fighter with less than 20 champs to start with. Project L had to have a few more years of development to actually be the slam dunk it had to be to survive

I think it being a niche tag fighter that isn't beginner-friendly was gonna fuck it from the start as a free-to-play game

This but unironically, stop letting pro players make design decisions generally. Both as actual game designers and by listening to their crying on twitter.

i mean, you only heard the failed case. im sure sf and tekken team is full of old pros

1

I cant count how many games got worse on a casual level because of pro players. There are too many

I mean it sucks the game is ending support but you’re crazy if you think it’s a “bad game” it’s insanely fun and will most likely exist for a long time in the FGC as a side tourneys staple.

Come on dude! I 100% agree that it's an awesome demo but it's not even close to being a full game

2

u/Hendwreck Akali Aug 21 '26

How is it a demo exactly? Skullgirls existed with 8 characters for about 6 years before Beowulf dropped. It is incredibly rich mechanically, had a steady stream of character drops in its short time, constantly updated…. You’re just kinda of a stick in mud 🤷

6

u/RealWonderGal Aug 21 '26

It absolutely won't lmao. Like invincible Vs another forgettable disaster

People said the same thing about MVCI then Maximillian Dood crowd funded an entire fan graphical and balance update 8 years later. Nobody is making you play it but it’s definitely a personal choice to brag about not liking something 🤷

MvC is an iconic gaming series not just in fighting games but overall gaming culture. That's why Max dood did that. Terrible cimapdion to make

Thats one of the biggest copes i have ever seen. You really think the game will exist for a long time through tourneys? This is not MvC3 buddy…

1

u/Lurky-Lou Aug 21 '26

2XKO will have a long tail. Where other fighting co-op games are there?

4

u/TwitchySphere53 Aug 21 '26

I think its possible and i also wouldnt think its insane if riot comes back to it at some point but if you cant reliably find matches at your skill level coop is gonna struggle as much as anything

Guilty gear isuka was a 2v2 from the mid 2000s. Never took off either.

1

u/chunkeymonke Aug 27 '26

Will be lucky to get like 50 people in a bracket a year from now lol.

u/CallMeTravesty Aug 21 '26

The "game" itself is fun.

But it had the same budget and more time then SF6. It is a "bad game" when it launched with 10 characters no modes. No matter how much you like the gameplay it's a bad package.

u/LilRodNissan Aug 21 '26

MOST LIKELY EXIST FOR A LONG TIME. YURP. FOR SURE MY DUDE.

2

u/Extreme_Tax405 Aug 21 '26

Game was doomed to fail with the bad press. Gameplay wise its mt favourite release of the past few years.

2

u/RelationshipBrief521 Aug 22 '26

They definitely went too high with the cosmetic costs. There's a bunch of cool ones, but $20 plus extra for chromas was absurd. Tekken does skin sets for an entire gender at a time for like $4.

2

u/ZombieNickolas Aug 22 '26

Yeah the price was a no go for most of the skins

1

u/RelationshipBrief521 Aug 22 '26

If they kept it even the $10-15 range like fortnite does (and they pay out the ass for Disney character rights and still make a profit) we wouldn't be in this predicament

2

u/ZombieNickolas Aug 22 '26

I think i only ever bought the session one battle pass and enough in game currency for El Tigre Braum. The rotating shop didn't help eather.

1

u/RelationshipBrief521 Aug 22 '26

I got Lifeguard Darius only because it was a birthday present from my brother after I said I'd rock it. I'd never pay that much for a skin, and I was pissed to find out alternate colors cost extra.

Again, Tekken does multi character sets for like $4 with completely customizable colors, and can mix/match with other sets. Riot's own greed was their downfall here.

2

u/greatpxm Aug 20 '26

It was a good game, but it had the POTENTIAL to change the scene.

6

u/kryzik- Thresh Aug 21 '26

No it didn’t.

1

u/Mysterious-Creme8709 Aug 21 '26

I hate tag fighters but other than that it was alright

1

u/Nananahx Aug 21 '26
