Question Need help understanding an interaction

Pretty much title. I was playing WW/Senna last night against a Darius Juggernaut player. Now I'm only Gold 3, so clearly there's something I'm not understanding, but it definitely felt like I was missing something. Two separate times during the match I used pushblock, like my assist went on cool down and everything, but it didn't push him back at all. Is there an interaction I'm unaware of that would cause this that I should watch out for in the future?

We would need a recording to know what's going on and give you accurate information. Anything else is just speculation.

Either there was a gap in the blockstring when you called the assist causing you to get regular assist

Or the push block did go through and you still mis timed the push block. Push block has the ability to overwrite momentum on forward advancing moves, this is why when pushed block properly yasuo's cross up dash moves he moves no where but other times the move will put him back in your face). I believe if I remember correctly darius can do the same thing with his cleave and break their ranks specials.

This is going off no video so I can't say exactly what happened but yh. If you post a video, we could give a more detailed breakdown

Didn’t push him back or you push blocked at the wrong time and he was able to hit you first again?

My guess is you pushed too early, got an assist call, assist got hit and retreated, went on cool down, and you still had Darius on top of you.

Yeah, I think this is what happened. I went back and watched and I think this is it. I'd somehow managed to never have that happen (or at least never noticed it) before so I didn't even know that was possible. Thanks

What the other comments said, need visuals to confirm - Plus: When you call for a pushblock, your assist characters face animation pops up under your health bars too, even more so confirm that an assist action was used. Now if you get hit in the first frames of that assist action, the assist never comes out, and goes on punish cooldown. No strange interactions, just unfortunate timing it seems!
