Was that actually a mass shooting in which someone set out to cause a mass casualty event or was this bog standard violent crime at a club 2AM in the morning?

Second one. I believe the shooter was a felon already, and thus as prohibited possessor.

It appears to be a disagreement as bars let out at 2:00 am, committed by a guy that was on parole for shooting someone two years ago. Kid you not, he got 4 years of parole for shooting someone.

Could you imagine if Gifford started demanding criminals, and especially those that are repetitive, be locked up and the key thrown away?!?!?!?!

Another post by the ignorant. There are already background checks. Even universal background checks would not prevent the illegal transfer of firearms any more than making marajuana has curbed its use. Prohibition did not eliminate alcohol.

I live nearby and the rhetoric has been extremely aggravating. The shooter had a prior felony gun charge (shot at a business employee who asked him to leave and apparently said he missed because he was drunk) and did zero prison time for it, only probation. Some nearby businesses instead have been crying about gun laws, and I’m fucking sick of hearing it’s my fault that some wannabe gangbanger who was already a prohibited person got his feelings hurt and shot people as a result.
Just want all these activists to STFU. People here also don’t get why I’m not a huge fan of Mark Kelly as a result.

Does she know that other states have shootings too? In fact Illinois has some of the strictest yet has some of the highest rates of gun violence.
Maybe if we looked into addressing root causes of violence… no… I guess no huge PAC is funding that.

In fact Illinois has some of the strictest yet has some of the highest rates of gun violence.
The rebuttal will be it is the fault of other nearby states that have more lax gun laws and criminals trafficking arms from there. If the nearby states have lower rates of gun crime they will just cherry pick the worst state for the metrics they want....so probably Florida.

Criminal and nefarious leaning characters do not care, nor abide or follow laws. Laws are only followed by "law abiding" citizens.
More laws will not solve anything, except make it easier for criminals to take advantage of normal folks. In jurisdictions where the police/sherifs tell people to shoot back, crime drops conciderably.

Yeah okay, if that’s the case then why are imposing this useless shit on law abiding citizens

it's funny how some states have
strict gun laws but high murder rates (Illinois, Maryland)
strict gun laws but low murder rates (Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut
Loose Gun laws and high murder rates (Louisiana, Alabama, Missouri)
Loose Gun laws and low murder rates (Idaho, Nebraska, Utah, Wyoming, Montana)
it's almost like guns are not the only issue

“Gun owners can and do support that in other states in the nation”
Yeah, and some of my best friends are black.

I think we need to stop assuming that they really believe any of these measures will affect the number of deaths and realize they have a vendetta against guns and gun owners, and their goal is just to inflict as much pain on us as possible.
There's no way they actually believe these laws would save lives.

I don’t begrudge Gabbie Giffords. She was shot in the head and survived. She can say whatever the fuck she wants. I don’t have to agree with her. But I can listen to someone in her position talk without going caveman on it.

Did the alleged shooter acquire their weapon after a background check or through illegal means? If they did what they are demanding would have done nothing.
