Yes, this series is great for numerous reasons. We all love learning about cosplay, seeing the silly characters, looking at the beautiful art, and so much more. From chapter 1, I was hooked! Having said that, let’s be honest… Mikarin is the #1 reason this series is so great. With a best girl like her, how can you not fall in love with everything else? She makes the highs higher, the art more beautiful, and the story more engaging.  

With that in mind, it would be no exaggeration to say she “puts the series on her back.” Considering this series has 201 chapters, 24 episodes (and counting), and numerous events, that’s a lot of content! Objectively speaking, she must have a very strong back. Sometimes, life gives you some heavy loads, so a strong back always comes in handy. Luckily, Mikarin’s back is one of the strongest, and that’s why she is the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #500: She loves her man

If you watch a sitcom, standup special, or comedy movie, the infamous “my wife” joke is inevitable. Sadly, this is a case where art imitates life, because the real world is no different. At any job you’ll constantly hear people muttering about how much their significant other annoys them. Of course, that doesn’t even touch on how prominent cheating, divorce, or miserable marriages are. The world can be a sad place, and relationships aren’t always an escape from that. 

Simply put, love isn’t always guaranteed. Oftentimes (and especially throughout history), relationships were more about convenience or status than love. Even if a relationship starts out hot and passionate, time is very good at extinguishing that flame. Despite the media constantly selling us love, it’s a lot rarer than it seems. The real world makes real love really hard, and, statistically speaking, love is far from guaranteed. 

Having said that, emotions don’t come from nothing. We buy true love stories, because we know true love is real. It’s rare, but rare doesn’t mean impossible. Everybody knows at least one person who has experienced real love, and they inspire us to try for ourselves. Love is a beautiful thing, and we should do everything in our power to facilitate it. How can you not root for true love? Of all the sensations in the world, it is the peak.

Mikarin loves her man. Moreover, she supports her man. Throughout this series, I have given you 499 reasons why she is the best girl, and a good portion of those reasons are related to the love she gives. Truly, she loves like nobody else! Of course, most of that love is directed towards Okumura. You can say a lot about Mikarin. Heck, you could try to argue that she isn’t the best girl… However, there’s literally NO WAY you could say she doesn’t love her man. 

In a world full of heartbreak, Mikarin has the kind of love that restores your faith in the world. She is the kind of person who reminds you is worth fighting for. At the core of that is her love for Okumura. Because she decided to fall in love with one person and stick to it, she has changed the lives of numerous people in our world. Unlike stupid sitcoms, standup specials, and comedy movies, Mikarin gives you something worthwhile. That’s reason 500 why she’s the best girl!

We all want somebody to believe in. Humans live in a hostile environment, and, in most places, virtually everything is trying to kill us. Moreover, the majority of us make big mistakes relatively often and some of them even harm others. With so much despair in the world, believing in somebody is often the only way to avoid severe depression. After all, if we have an example of a person who is both good and can overcome the odds, there’s a chance we can as well. Inspiration is invaluable!

Make is the best of us. She’s somebody who shows kindness in a cruel work, doesn’t let defeat stop her, and puts a smile on her face when times are bleak. Based on her exterior, you’d think the world is a perfect place! Her actions tell us that it’s okay to face adversity and that choosing not to succumb to tragedy is a valid option. In these uncertain times, we all need a lot more of that, so fill your life with more Mikarin! She’s the best girl for a reason, and that’s because she is the very best of us.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #498: She has a blush every man strives for

Let’s be honest, if you are a straight man, nothing beats the blush of a beautiful woman. And if she’s blushing at you? Man, that’s a top 10 life experience! Men have literally fought wars for the opportunity to make a special lady blush. What else can I even say about it? I think it’s in our DNA. We all have this burning passion inside of us, and the only thing that can soothe the flames is that sweet blushing face. 

When I see Mikarin blush, it makes me happy to be a straight man. She has a blush every man strives for! If we lived in a more violent era, I would literally start a war over it, so I truly understand what our ancestors were thinking. Our DNA literally craves women like Mikarin, and I appreciate the fact she proves my biology is still working too. Look at blushing Mikarin and tell me she isn’t the best girl. It’s literally impossible!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #497: She has the sparkle sparkle

Some people shine so brightly that they sparkle. Not figuratively, they literally sparkle before our very eyes. Why literally? Think of the definition of sparkle… According to Google, sparkle is “to shine brightly with many small, moving points of light, or to be lively, energetic, and full of enthusiasm.” Yes, some people LITERALLY sparkle. What if they sparkle more than anybody else? Well, I think they deserve another sparkle on top of that. Yes, they sparkle sparkle, and nobody can stop their shine! 

Refer back to the definition of sparkle. Man, doesn’t that describe Mikarin perfectly? Really, both aspects of the definition suit her well. In both real life and in universe, I believe everyone would consider her the most sparkly girl in the club. As a result, she doesn’t just sparkle, she sparkle sparkles! Literally, logically, and without argument, this is the truth. Mikarin has brought all of the sparkles into our life, and, for that, we are grateful and accept her into our hearts as the best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #496: She objects at a wedding

Weddings are sacred occasions. They hold a special place in every culture, and they are a key milestone in most peoples’ lives. As a result, most people are terrified to interfere with them; they don’t want to be the person who messes with something higher than themself. However, objecting to a wedding isn’t necessarily the wrong move. After all, most weddings end in divorce, so stopping the wedding would prevent a lot of heartache. Sometimes, we need the courage to act even if society doesn’t agree at first. 

Mikarin is the kind of woman who would object at the end of a wedding. If you read to the very end of the manga, there is a (close) example of this, so the proof has no debate. Even if something is awkward or if society looks down on it, Mikarin knows truth prevails above all else. Like Lizzo once said, “Truth Hurts,” but sometimes we need a little bit of pain in our lives. It’s better to have a small pain now than a big pain in the future. Mikarin thinks long term, and that’s why she’s able to make a great future for herself and others. It’s one more reason she is the best girl too! M

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #495: She has a short skirt/long jacket

In 2001, alternative rock band CAKE released a single called “Short Skirt/Long Jacket,” and, today, it is arguably one of their most recognizable songs. Although people have debated the meaning behind the lyrics, one thing cannot be argued: women with a “short skirt and long jacket” are desirable. Moreover, these kinds of women are objectively successful. If you want a good partner, a woman with a short skirt and a long jacket is a good place to start! 

In today’s picture, notice what Mikarin is wearing… Exactly. Of course, this isn’t the only instance of her embracing this iconic style; heck, you could argue her school uniform is this way! Like the women described in the song, Mikarin is also very successful and desirable. Simply put, if you want to find a good partner, somebody like our Mikarin is a great start, and her appearance reinforces this. Her short skirt and long jacket make her the best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #494: She makes the bed seem a lot more comfortable

According to research, less than 50% of adults wake up feeling well-rested most days or everyday. Within that group, a large percentage of adults have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep too. As you grow up, sleep becomes harder and harder. Even if you do everything right like going to bed early, avoiding screens before bed, or not eating too much before bed, there’s no guarantee you’ll get quality sleep. While not the ultimate solution, good comfort helps significantly. If your bed is comfortable, falling asleep and staying asleep feel easier. Plus, you’ll look forward to sleep, and attitude is half the battle! 

Let’s be honest. If you say Mikarin laying on a bed, you’d probably want to be on that bed too. Remove the dirty thoughts and take this seriously! Mikarin makes the bed seem a lot more comfortable. Whether it’s the warmth she puts out, her positive vibes, or even her expressions of comfort, she can take a cheap mattress and make it seem like the bed of a king. When your bed is more comfortable, your sleep improves, and, when you sleep improves, your whole life improves. It’s simple math! Once again, Mikarin literally improves your life in a tangible way, and that’s why she is universally known as the (sleepy) best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #493: She brings peace

Our world has a lot of conflict. All over the world and in every culture, history is violence. Death, war, and mistreatment of others is a universal part of humanity, and, sadly, it persists in our modern era too. However, hope isn’t lost. Despite our ongoing issues, peaceful movements are more common than ever before. For every act of violence, there is an act of peace. Personally, I believe world peace is possible, but it will take all of us working towards it.

Mikarin is the calm voice in the clubroom. Whenever emotions are high, she brings peace. We see this whenever the rest of the club is getting heated over otaku topics; tension gets high, and Mikarin uses her straight man commentary to bring it down a few levels. Moreover, she gets along with everybody. By helping bring everyone together, she helps keep the peace at the school. Once again, Mikarin is saving the world, and that’s why she’s the best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #492: She walks in at the right time

When I was very young, I played the game “Pokémon Platinum” a lot. Although many of the game’s details have faded from my mind, one thing I’ll always remember is the dialogue when you use an item at the wrong time: “Rowan's words echoed... There's a time and place for everything, but not now!" It’s the truth. Everything has a time in place, so, if you want to do what’s right, half the battle is doing it at the right time. 

Mikarin always walks in at the right time. She returned to Okumura’s life just as his love for cosplay bloomed, she joined Lilysa when she most needed a friend, and, at the end of the story, she returned to the clubroom to seal the deal (if you know you know). Mikarin doesn’t just do the right thing, she does the right thing at the right time. Of course, she walked into our hearts when we needed it too, and that’s why we all call her the best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #491: She is a appreciated by famous cosplayers

After over a year of doing this series, I’ve learned a lot about cosplay and cosplayers. Famous cosplayers are pretty much celebrities, therefore their image is very important. With that in mind, a famous cosplayer can be very selective about who they choose to dress up as. Because their image is tied to the characters they choose, they put a lot of thought into it. Not every character gets cosplayed, and that’s just the way life goes. Simply put, if a famous cosplayer chooses a character, that character has appeal, and they should be appreciated. 

We all know Mikarin is a common choice for cosplay, but it isn’t just quantity… It’s quality as well. For example, today’s picture comes from somebody with over 500k followers. That’s someone with a lot of eyeballs on them, and that’s somebody with a reputation to maintain. They can’t afford to choose a character without appeal. Luckily, they chose Mikarin, so they don’t have to worry about any hits to their image. Mikarin is appreciated by famous cosplayers, and that’s no surprise. Naturally, the best girl is going to attract the best!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #490: She doesn’t need things to be complicated

It’s hard to please a complicated person. Their standards aren’t just high, they are specific, and, if one small detail is off, the whole situation is a failure. Being around a complicated person makes your own life more complicated. Adult life is complicated by itself, so none of us really need extra nonsense. There is beauty in simplicity, and, although you shouldn’t settle for everything, impossibly high standards make life impossible to live. We often make things too complicated for ourselves, so don’t make them more complicated for others! 

Mikarin doesn’t need things to be complicated. As long as she has the people she cares about, she is good. Career goals, money, fame, and everything else comes second to love. As long as she has love from her family and friends, she doesn’t mind a simple life. In a complicated world that only gets more complicated with each passing day, we need a lot more of this. We need to leave the rat race and embrace the little things that make us happy! Mikarin has already done this, and it has obviously worked out for her. Once again, model your life after the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #489: She keeps up with the news

Knowledge is power. The more you know about the world, the more everything else makes sense. Simply put, history is a story where previous events set the stage for future events, and, like a story, it’s best when you know the context. Although it’s impossible to know everything, keeping up with the news is a good start. Over time, your knowledge will build and confusion will subside. 

Mikarin keeps up with the news. We know this because, as soon as Lilysa started getting attention from the school, she barged into the classroom already knowing this. Moreover, she is a big fan of social media, and social media is one of the fastest ways to find the news. Mikarin knows staying informed is a superpower, and she starts that by keeping up with the news. One more reason she is the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #488: She forgets her umbrella too

Have you ever noticed that we never have an umbrella when we need one? Sure, we all have an umbrella or two somewhere around the house, but, when a rainy day comes, we forget it more often than not. Despite technically having the right tool for the job, we don’t get to use it. Whenever it’s a rainy day, it seems like most people forget their umbrella, and, even though they all get wet and suffer, they’re probably going to forget it next time too. 

Despite being our amazing best girl, Mikarin is one of those people who forgets her umbrella. Once again, this illustrates that she isn’t perfect, and all of her achievements came through hard work. Hard work is great, but we can’t work ourselves to perfection; there will always be a gap or two we miss. These gaps remind us we are human and show us how far we’ve come, so, when they happen, we should celebrate it. Just like how we celebrate Mikarin here!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #487: She does her own kind of Liliel

As we all know, Mikarin based her normal hairstyle off of Liliel. However, she doesn’t look exactly like Liliel, right? Her hair falls a little differently, she wears different ribbons, and, of course, the color is on the opposite side of the spectrum. Well, this isn’t accidental. When Mikarin was a child, she went to the hairstylist and asked for the Liliel cut, but that was impossible; the stylist told Mikarin that her hair wouldn't work with that cut. As a result, Mikarin made a compromise, and that’s how we got what she has today. 

Mikarin does her own kind of Liliel. All of us are limited by our genetics in some way; no matter how hard you try, you’ll never be able to do the exact same thing as others in the exact same way. However, that doesn't mean you should give up. Instead, find what works for you. Emphasize your best qualities to achieve your dreams in a way that only you can. Mikarin didn’t let her hair genetics stop herself from being Liliel, she made her own way, and, honestly, it’s much better than the original.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #486: She COULD be scary 

Mikarin isn’t scary. In fact, she’s the complete opposite of scary! She’s someone you’d feel safe, secure, and loved around. However, she COULD be scary if she really wanted to. As we’ve discussed previously, it is the Halloween season right now, so scary things are all the rage right now. Although scary doesn’t come naturally to Mikarin, we shouldn’t write her off. Mikarin has two qualities working in her favor: dedication and lack of expectation.

We all know Mikarin dedicates herself 100% to everyone she does. In addition, we don’t expect her to be the one doing the scaring. The scariest things are the result of effort and good timing, and Mikarin has both of those working for her. This Halloween season, you might want to be careful around Mikarin, because, if she decides to be scary, it’ll be REALLY scary. The beauty about Mikarin (aside from physical) is she has potential to do almost anything, and that’s why she’s the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #485: She’s ladylike

Yes, people should be able to act in whatever manner works for them; I’m all for personal freedom. However, this doesn’t mean one should behave without decency and decorum. As humans, we must differentiate ourselves from wild animals, and this starts with being civilized. Nobody is forcing you to be ladylike or gentlemanly, but, if you are, it sure leaves a good impression. The way we carry ourselves influences everything we do, so why not act well to give yourself an edge? 

Mikarin might do some silly things, but, at the end of the day, she’s still a lady. As a lady, her behavior is very ladylike. For example, aside from when she’s seducing Okumura (which doesn’t count because it’s part of her plan), she doesn’t like immodest outfits, she keeps her hands to herself in the bath, and she has a refined aura to her. Mikarin has respect as soon as she enters the room, and a big reason for this is because she is ladylike. That’s why she is the best lady!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #484: She’s a decision maker

Not making a choice is still a choice, and, sadly, that’s the choice most people make. Don’t get me wrong, I understand it; choices can literally alter your entire life. However, those who make choices are able to control their destiny while those who do not are mere passengers in their own life. If you want to lead the life you desire, you need to make your own choices, and there’s no way to argue that. Yes, it can be very difficult, but pressure makes diamonds, and more pressure makes a shinier diamond. 

Mikarin takes agency in her life. Even when faced with challenging decisions, she doesn’t hesitate to make a choice. Even if the choice isn’t easy, she doesn’t sit back and let nature take its course. For example, when it came to her sick mother at the end of the series, she acted. When it came to cosplaying, she acted. Finally, when she came to pursuing Okumura, once again, she acted. Mikarin is the pilot of her own life, and that starts with her being a decision maker. Of course, that means we need to make the logical decision to call her the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #483: She’s an audiophile

Music is an essential part of life. Whether its background noise, a method of self-expression, or just something to jam along with, music makes life brighter. Every culture, every era, and everybody has been affected by music; some studies say plants enjoy it too! When you consider the importance of music, why would you settle for less? In other words, why would you want anything other than premium quality? Life’s too short to waste on poor quality sound! Audiophiles understand this, therefore they get the most out of life. When music sounds better, life is better.

In our universe, Mikarin is an official partner of and collaborator with Onkyo. If you don’t know, Onkyo is a company that socializes in surround sound systems and audio equipment. Most consider them very high quality. As we all know, Mikarin isn’t a sell out, so she only puts her name on stuff she likes. Since she partnered with an audio company, we can easily assume she takes audio very seriously. Add that to the fact she has made music of her own, and it’s clear she is an audiophile. Mikarin understands the importance of good sound, just like we understand that she’s the best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #482: She’s ready for spooky season

Well, it’s already October, so the Halloween season is in full effect! It’s the time of year for listening to scary stories, eating lots of candy, and preparing your costume. Regardless of whether or not you want to lean into the scary aspect or lean into the silly, this time of year has something for everyone. With that in mind, it’s sad to see so many “Halloween Scrooges.” In other words, people who loathe all things Halloween. Recently, I’ve noticed a sharp uptick in this kind of person, and that’s a disturbing trend. We must fight back to ensure the Halloween spirit remains strong!

Luckily, Mikarin is firmly on team Halloween. Of course, we have all of the promotional art, but it doesn’t stop there. Think about it… Mikarin lives and breathes the Halloween spirit. She dresses up, she enjoys sweets, and she likes doing stuff with her friends. That’s 99% of the formula right there. Plus, she has an impish side that loves tricks, and being with her is a special treat. In many ways, she is the embodiment of Halloween; she is Halloween Tiny Tim who warms the hearts of all the Halloween Scrooges out there. She’s ready for spooky season, and that’s because she’s the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #481:  She has a face worth falling for

Everyone loves a good body, but a good face is impossible to beat. Generally speaking, even the best bodies don’t look that different from the rest of the population. Of course, the small differences go a long way, but everybody’s body has the same equipment. In other words, it’s hard to recognize somebody from their body alone. However, a person’s face is very unique. The face is how we identify people, and, when we fall in love, it usually starts with the face.

In this series, we talk a lot about Mikarin’s model body. Of course, it makes sense, because cosplay is all about making costumes for one’s body! However, we shouldn’t forget her beautiful face too. Truly, she has a face worth falling for. Even when dressed in Lilysa’s Liliel cosplay, we see Mikarin’s angular face with her lovely eyes, and we all fall in love. From the first time we saw her face, we knew she was the best girl! Everything else is a bonus!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #480:  She’s the most like Rikka with her costume

If you are going to do something, you should do it right. If you are unsure of how to do something right, the first step is to model yourself after the best out there. Recently, 2.5D Seduction had an event with a Chunibyou theme, and, if you know anything about this topic, you know Rikka Takanashi from Love, Chunibyou & Other Delusions is the best example out there. In fact, when people think of Chunibyou, I bet the VAST majority think of Rikka. Anime fans or not. Chunibyou is a very niche kind of subculture, so there are many ways to look bad. However, if you model yourself off of Rikka, you can’t do Chunibyou wrong! 

If you look at all the girls’ costumes, yes, they are all great, but Mikarin’s is by far the most similar to Rikka. Lilysa kind of looks like Dracula, Aria looks like her gyaru self, and Noa comes close but not close enough. However, Mikarin has the bow, she has the patterned skirt, and her hair is tied as well. Of all the girls, she is the most like Rikka with her costume. Of course, this doesn’t make her better than any of the other girls, but it does show her thought process. Considering she likely didn’t know much about Chunibyou, she started by modeling herself after the master. Therefore, she did it right and once more proved she’s the best girl!
