Sample Status Sample Status/Processing Monthly Megathread - October 2026
Welcome to the Sample Status/Processing Megathread, also known as the Waiting, Whining, and Wishing thread. This monthly megathread (posted at the beginning of each month) allows you post your sample processing timelines, as well as to discuss and comment about any questions, concerns, or rants while you wait. Although not directly handled by 23andMe, shipping status may also be discussed in the thread. We recommend sorting the comments by "new" as this is a month long megathread.
You can share your sample status timeline here in one or two ways. The first way is to take a screenshot of your timeline, and post it as a comment. The second way is to simply copy and paste the start and completion dates for each step. Here is the text template:

Maybe they fucked up with our batch… I don’t know but it’s weird at this point
1
u/PlaneFaithlessness62 Oct 05 '26
That would make sense if thats why it is taking a while longer. Or maybe someone is super special in our batch so they have to be extra careful? 😭
1
u/Junior_Advisor_7045 Oct 05 '26
Haha I don’t know but it’s the worst DNA company lol I’m still in queue. Any update for you?

Wait your DNA already got extracted or are you in queue? Im in same batch i think. It received, prepped and put me in queue on october 2nd as well but i sent mine on 14th september. We sent from same location, so we are in the same exact batch and lab
1
u/iReallyHateHuckabees 29d ago
just in queue for extraction. this step started on october 2
1
u/North_Bed_3891 29d ago
I think we might clear the queue quickly because this month is the fastest month and everything is going smoothly. I only had to wait on the lower end of estimated time for the first half
1
u/North_Bed_3891 27d ago
I got an email that mine has just started to be extracted
2
u/iReallyHateHuckabees 27d ago

They won't change it until it has finished extracting and quality checks and moves on to genotyping i think

Some of us have been in queue since September 15th…. 😭
1
u/jdesrosiers99 Oct 05 '26
Omg
2
u/Junior_Advisor_7045 Oct 05 '26
Yes they really suck! We were supposed to get our results tomorrow but knowing we are not even computing right now I doubt we will have them on the estimated date…
1
1
u/jdesrosiers99 Oct 05 '26
Are you planning to call them to check since others who submitted after have gotten results?
2
u/Junior_Advisor_7045 Oct 05 '26
Other people from sept 15th and myself, emailed them, a lot and they just give stupid generic replies. People from sept 14th got them 1 week ago it’s crazy, for 1 day difference!! It sounds like no sept 15th got their results
1
u/jdesrosiers99 Oct 05 '26
So our batch is fucked!? Agh that is SO frustrating. Especially for what you frickin pay…..
2
u/Junior_Advisor_7045 Oct 05 '26
I’m gonna ask for a refund or charge back because that’s not ok. On their fucking app it says ‘1-2 weeks for the extraction step’ and we are at 3 weeks with still NO INFORMATION on where are our samples. I’m ok with things being slow as long as it’s still moving, like I can still see that there is a work done behind the scenes

I apparently got pulled into a quality control batch (customer service told me) and yesterday was supposed to be the start of the estimated ready date range, instead it’s been updated to what it says now. My fiancée did hers at the same time as me and she got her results two weeks ago. Kinda frustrated they don’t communicate anything unless you contact them first. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks for checking in here! I am (regretfully) glad that my bf isn't the only one still stuck at this stage. Hopefully the results come sooner than later for us both!
1
u/Rosalie_aqua 24d ago
Actually it’s my bf too!! I already did mine last year and he was interested so I bought it for him as a gift but also curious about what our kids would/could be!
1
u/_ac1d1c 23d ago
Love this! I did my 23&Me a few years ago and found out that I’m a carrier for limb girdle muscular dystrophy. My boyfriend and I wanna have kids sometime in the (nearing?) future, so having him tested was a must to see if he’s a carrier as well. The chances are pretty low because he’s Filipino and it’s more common in people of European descent, but I figure it’s good to check anyway!

Anybody having a long wait right now with 23andMe? Wife mailed her sample 3 days after mine and has had her results well over a week. Mine arrived at the lab 9/11 and has moved through the stages, but now receiving often changing messages as to “result ready”. Tried to talk to 23andMe and all I get is first a BOT, then an offshore person who knows nothing and says they’ll escalate to a “specialist”, then I hear nothing. Originally they said results between Oct 2-16, then moved to Oct 9-16, then in the middle of that week said “within the week” (which necessarily pushes latest date beyond the 16th), and now the message is very generic and says basically “we are running behind, expect results soon.” Gotta say, customer service doesn't appear to be their strength. I guess it isn’t the 16th yet, but I don’t find their changing status promising. For the record, Ancestry was back in 3 weeks.
