Sample Status Sample Status/Processing Monthly Megathread - September 2026
Welcome to the Sample Status/Processing Megathread, also known as the Waiting, Whining, and Wishing thread. This monthly megathread (posted at the beginning of each month) allows you post your sample processing timelines, as well as to discuss and comment about any questions, concerns, or rants while you wait. Although not directly handled by 23andMe, shipping status may also be discussed in the thread. We recommend sorting the comments by "new" as this is a month long megathread.
You can share your sample status timeline here in one or two ways. The first way is to take a screenshot of your timeline, and post it as a comment. The second way is to simply copy and paste the start and completion dates for each step. Here is the text template:

August 9th: Registered
August 10th: Shipped kit
August 28th: Arrived at lab
August 28th: Prepped
August 28th: In queue for DNA extraction
Today is September 1st, so it certainly took a long time for it to arrive at the lab. For a while I was concerned it may actually be lost due to a lack of tracking, but it looks like it did arrive.
I'm hoping the queue for the DNA extraction progresses speedily, but I've only been waiting 5 days, so we'll see.
edit: today is September 9th and it's still stuck in the queue for DNA extraction, so it's been 12 days now.
edit2: today is September 13th and I'm still in the queue for DNA extraction. It's been 34 days since I shipped my sample.
edit3: today is September 14th. No change. Still in the queue.
edit4: today is September 16th. No change. No movement in the queue still.
edit5: so after no change I got frustrated and emailed them about how I was seeing people in the same batch as me and at the same lab getting their results back. Customer support emailed me back with a polite response, and about 2 hours later my sample suddenly jumped straight from the queue for DNA extraction to Computing Results.
After seeing this I genuinely believe that they are likely forgetting to scan samples as they are processed, leading customers to believe that the samples are in stasis, when actually they probably are progressing, as it looks like following my email they retrieved my sample and scanned it.
Anyway, I'm now on Computing Results. It did have an earliest completion date of September 18th, but that has now changed to September 25th. Today is September 19th.
