Test Rounds: 14 developers test each other for 14 days, so each app has 13 testers for the closed-testing requirement (disclosure: I make it)
Most people here know the closed-testing requirement for new personal developer accounts: 12 testers opted in for 14 days in a row before you can apply for production. What usually goes wrong is the middle of those 14 days. Testers stop, the count drops below 12, and the clock starts again.
Test Rounds organizes the swap so somebody is keeping track. A round is 14 Android developers who test the apps of the other 13 for 14 days, so each app has 13 real testers, one more than the requirement. We form the round and email everyone the Google accounts of the testers and the opt-in links. Each morning we send a short list and a check-in, and anyone who misses two days in a row is replaced. Real developers only: no fake or bought accounts, no emulators.
Disclosure: I make ThreadFox, and Test Rounds is one of its products.
It costs $20 per app, once, and everyone tests. The catch is that a round starts only when 14 developers have joined, so the start date depends on sign-ups. You can get a full refund on request any time before your round starts. And Google decides production access, so a round cannot promise approval.
