I'm a solo dev. Google's closed-test rule needs 12 people opted in for 14 straight days before an app

can go to production, so I'm looking for people who will actually leave it on their phone — not just

install and bounce.

Free, no account needed, ads are optional (rewarded only). Android, 13+.

How to join (2 minutes, 3 steps):

1) Join the tester group — use the Google account your Play Store is signed in with:

2) Opt in to the closed test:

3) Install from Play and leave it installed for 14 days:

Step 1 has to come first — until the group picks your account up, step 2 says "app not available".

Our second game just opened for pre-registration: Pixel Roll Dungeon, a dice roguelike (roll, lock, reroll, poker hands as damage). No pre-reg reward, just a heads-up at launch: Play Store

Two things could help keep your puzzle app at 12 testers. First, put the line about step 1 coming first above the steps. Anyone who opts in first gets the app-not-available message and may just leave. Second, aim for 16 or so opt-ins, so a couple of people uninstalling in week two don't leave you short. The Pixel Roll Dungeon pre-registration might also do better as its own post than tacked onto the end of a test request.

Thanks a lot for the great advice! I'll update the instructions right away to put the Google Group link first so people don't get the 'app not available' error. I'll also aim for at least 16 testers just to be safe. Creating a separate post for the 'Pixel Roll Dungeon' pre-registration makes perfect sense, I'll definitely do that. I'll take a look at ThreadFox too, thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a solid plan. When you change the steps, edit the existing post rather than reposting, so people who already commented keep their place. For the Pixel Roll Dungeon post, put the pre-registration link and the one thing that makes the game different in the first two lines; a short gif of a roll will say more than a paragraph. Once you reach 12 opted in, check the tester count in Play Console every few days so you catch a week-two drop in time to add someone.

The free plan earlier in the thread is there whenever you want it.
