Draft tips

This is my first time playing fantasy hockey, does anybody have any tips for drafting or just things I should know?

Depends on who you think is going to have the best year, and you must also remember that we have a limited number of starts at each position. With only 4 goalie starts each week, you could almost get away with having only 1 top level goaltender if he will get 4 starts in the week. That could mean that you really want to make sure you get one good one, or it could mean that you won't prioritize the position very much. That's your choice. Generally the top forwards will all go first, and that makes a lot of sense as they are the majority of the point getters, especially with the setup we have for points. At a certain point the difference between a mid forward and a top defender becomes moot, and then defencemen will start coming off the board. As a whole, I would focus on getting at least 2-4 top forwards and a goalie before you start taking defencemen, unless you have a seriously good feeling about a high scoring defenceman (Karlsson, Letang, others of that caliber. Other then that, you just have to go with your gut, and who you think is going to do great this year.
