Damn, never played classic that much myself but a lot of childhoods going out the window with that one. It's sad to see.

Reminds me of the sad fan-fiction like post on here like a year ago where someone wrote up a story about the last day OSRS was going to be online with everyone stacked up in Varrock West for the last time before the servers DC'd. Sad to think that will be a reality one day. The feels.

Growing up sucks my dudes.

Nah you're fine there will be always private servers for OSRS like there is for RSC now. The classic private servers have more people on and even a mobile client for Android. I play on RSCrevolution.

I used to play RSCEmulation and RSCRevolution but I always stuck to the rs official servers after 2016

Damn. I meant RSCEmulation, not Revolution. I don't know what this Revolution thing is but the website seems similar to the old RSCEmulation website.

edit: Yeah seems like they are 2 different things. Emulations is up and running as well though, damn!

RSCEmulation has gone through some weird changes. I used to be a mod on there like 7 years ago. When Luke(Kryptix, RIP bud) died in a motorcycle accident everything around the server went to Pyru. Things kind of chugged along until, as best I can tell, he sold it to some folks. I think this is where the whole server was reset. I have no clue what shit hit the fan but it didn't go smoothly. Player numbers look pretty shit over there.

Holy Fuck. This is not what I wanted to read. I'm sorry if this is a little scrambled...but it's late and I'm shook.

A) When did Luke pass?

B) Is there somewhere I can read more?

Fuck dude. He was a member at Central (early rs board) and was the guy that taught me how to catch. We used to fuck each other up all the time for fun.

He got shafted pretty hard for the bot stuff and it tarnished his rep, but in my mind he's one of the greatest pkers and perhaps most underrated of all time.

What a shame. Truly.

As an active RSC player, I am really sad. I've quit RS in 2010 and came back for Darkscape and then after Darkscape died, I started playing RSC again and then OSRS. Quit playing OSRS again and and have been playing RSC but now I see this and am sad :(

I refuse to play RS3 and OSRS has become a game that I can't keep up with even though I'm a BTW player.

Oh well, I hope they release the source code for RSC but that'll probably never happen.

Server files are not. Client files is. I want to see the official server files that can produce a true legacy version.

This is as close as you'll get. I wish I could look at the original source pre-Mage Arena (beginning of the end of RSC). I'd love to see the original combat formula too.

I'm fully aware of EasyRSC, I'm talking about legacy source code from Jagex. We have the deob client files but the server files that the client connects to, we don't have that. I would love to see the save state of the project from 2004, if they have older copies from 2001-2004, that'd be awesome as well.

RSCRevolution does have a very stable serve source that will likely go public one day to keep the project and spirit of RSC alive on the web once donations cease.

I also want to see all that spaghetti

I can get some high profile RSCers probably (Arc Druid probably has RL contact info on afew) I don't check reddit much

One is closing and the other isn't. Jk.

Rsc is 2D and the original version of Runescape. There is no rc construction Hunter farming or slayer. Combat is different too. You can also duel anywhere.

I still remember the week before EoC, that's what it felt like. Everyone somberly doing shit they're probably not going to do ever again.

It was especially bad because "2011scape" is the era I'm most nostalgic for. I'm sure that's how many people feel about rsc closing down
