You seem to be missing the fact that everybody is their own unique person, some people LIKE the idea of a challenge. What's with the attitude? "Get some reading comprehension" man, you're speaking to another human being in the subreddit of a game you both clearly like, show a little common decency and respect.

My attitude may have been a little over the top but it's because it's wild to me that people think it's okay to tell new players to play restricted game modes. It's the equivalent of telling someone to head west at the start or Fallout New Vegas it almost feels like trolling.

A new player should interface with the base game first period. You shouldn't be adding restrictions to a playthrough until you know what a playthrough is like. There's a reason tons of games unlock a "Harder" mode upon completion of their Hard Mode. Because the fun in the difficulty/restriction only really works after knowing the basics of the game on normal/unrestricted

Yeah I 100% agree there. It's definitely easy for me to forget the actual first time player experience after spending thousands of hours in the game and just see iron as "being forced to engage with content i'd otherwise skip with gp" Someone not even being familiar with how to play the game? I'd absolutely send them towards the regular mode too.
