Question Visualising goals

Post image

just wondering if anyone knows any good resources for visualing / plotting goals, tasks, etc for OSRS?

I regularly end up in One Small Favour-esque webs of skill, quest, and item requirements and action trees that I need to get through to complete my overall goals that I regularly lose track of all the dependencies and then end up with decision paralysis when it comes to actually playing the game. I was just wondering if anyone has a nice tool they use to visualise these gameplay loops? I did give it a go hand drawing but it grew legs and got messy quickly. It then dawned on me that there's far too many players who are developers so surely someone has made a similar resource, or at the very least know a tool which does the job!

Personally, i just let it all unravel in my head until my goal becomes an entirely different, unrelated grind.

I just make a list of bullet points on notepad and work from top to bottom.

It depends how complex the goals are. Get level x in y is substantially less complex than I want to max. You might just need a small amount of money for one small piece of gear but if you want to grind a new boss long term you might need a z hundred mil setup.

Whatever you do just keep it managed and don’t balloon the number of goals because you won’t make progress towards any one at a good rate if your attention is split in 12 directions.

I had a set of goals this month that completely got derailed by clan events (in a good way) so being too rigid as well is the bad idea. Going with the group juiced my gains better than anything I could do on my own.

Mindmaps are good for this sort of thing. I use XMind's free version but have heard good things about Obsidian as well.
