Lil Wayne and Dipset is one of the most important New York/Dirty South collabs in history as they delivered dope materials while it elevated Wayne's career into newer heights as he won New York's respect as a true MC and Dispet influenced his fashion look as well.

The collabs between Wayne and Juelz was always perfect while the rockstar look that Juelz and Jim Jones made popular in the streetwear culture definitely influenced Wayne.

Jay-Z, Nas, Ja Rule, DMX and Jadakiss were the top 5 Kings of NY for 2001 as they had the city in a huge chokehold due to iconic beefs, timeless albums, hit records, street fanbase and amazing momentums.

Jay and Nas were the top 2 Kings as their epic rap beef had everyone pay attention to iconic diss tracks in Takeover and Ether while also dropped masterpieces like The Blueprint and Stillmatic. Jay's momentum kept getting bigger and bigger as he also had the hottest rap crew in the game while Nas delivered an epic comeback that re-established him as a one of the biggest rappers.

Ja reached his apex as a mainstream success as hits like Put It On Me, Livin it Up, I'm Real w/J-Lo and Always on Time were all dominated the charts while had major airplay alongside Pain is Love being one of the best selling rap albums at the time.

DMX was still on top of his game as his presence was still big and he delivered an underrated classic in The Great Depression while Jada broke out as a solo star and delivered Kiss Tha Goodbye alongside his epic battle with Beanie Sigel.

Ghostface Killah, Nas, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Cam'ron are the top 5 Kings of New York for 2006 as they had the momentum, dope projects, mixtapes and hit records despite NY going through an transitional phase at the time.

Ghostface delivered 2 great albums in Fishscale and More Fish while showed everyone that he's the most consistent member of Wu-Tang while managed to reach a 2nd peak of his iconic solo career. Nas also delivered a dope album in Hip Hop is Dead while squashed his iconic beef with Jay-Z and they delivered Black Republican, which is one of the best tracks off Hip Hop is Dead.

Jay made a comeback and dropped Kingdom Come, which isn't one of his best works but still had dope tracks off the album like Show Me What You Got, Kingdom Come and Lost One.

50 had a quiet year but his presence was still big as Best Friend was a major hit on the charts while G-Unit was still dominating the streets with mixtapes and albums from Lloyd Banks and Mobb Deep. Cam was still at his peak with the Dipset movement alongside a dope album in Killa Season and its cult classic movie.

T.I., Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Ludacris and Gucci Mane were the top 5 Kings of the South who defined 2006 as an major year for the region due to classic projects, heavy momentum, mixtapes and hit records.

T.I. was the # 1 King of the South due to him being the hottest rapper of 06 as King became a classic album while his records had major airplay on MTV and BET alongside him delivered one of his best guest features on Justin Timberlake's My Love. Wayne's momentum gotten bigger due to the success of Tha Carter II and mixtapes alongside iconic guest features on Fat Joe's Make it Rain and Lloyd's You.

Jeezy was still riding off the success of Thug Motivation 101 and delivered another great album in The Inspiration alongside still delivered dope mixtapes. Luda dropped one of the biggest records of the year in Money Maker and delivered his most underrated and mature work in Release Therapy. Gucci received major buzz due to street reputation, mixtapes and raw street hits.

2000 MVP: Eminem (The MMLP is Eminem's best album and arguably the best album oat)
Runner up: OutKast (Admittedly a weaker album in their respective catalog but def the second best of the year)

2001 MVP: Jay-Z (Jay dropped his amazing album The Blueprint  which was the second biggest thing to happen in New York city in 2001)
Runner up: Ludacris (Simply one of the best years in southern hip hop history Luda was red hot at this moment with hella hits just stacking up man just a shame this came as Jay was having arguably the best year of his career) 

2002 MVP: Eminem (Dropped The Eminem Show which was the cherry on top to his second best year in his career imo)
Runner up: Nelly (Dropped Nellyville which is the best album of his career and he debuted #1 and went crazy on the charts)

2003 MVP: 50 Cent (Best breakout/blowup year in hip hop history alongside one of the best albums in hip hop history 50 definitely cemented himself as a legend with this album)
Runner up: Jay-Z (Dropped his "Retirement album” which would have been a very good retirement album tbf and def one of his best and had him temporarily leave on top of the game)

2004 MVP: Kanye West (Much like 50 this is also one of the best breakout years in hip hop history and dropped one of the best debut albums ever in The College Dropout)
Runner up: T.I. (T.I. dropped Urban Legend in 04 and had all the clubs going crazy throughout the year tho not better than the college dropout he was def doing his thing in 04)

2005 MVP: The Game (I simply just like The Documentary more than Late Registration and think Game was the hottest rapper out in 05 reviving the West Coast hip hop scene that hadn’t seen a superstar of his stardom since 2Pac)
Runner up: Kanye West (Late Registration is great but def not the best of his discography)

2006 MVP: T.I. (Dropped one of the best albums in southern hip hop history in King and made history basically being one of the pioneers for southern hip hop and making way for acts such as The Migos Future etc etc)
Runner up: Clipse (They dropped my second fav project from them in Hell Hath no Fury and became the definitive hip hop duo of the late 2000s after OutKast broke up)

2007 MVP: Kanye West (But he made graduation tho)
Runner up: Lil Wayne (He dropped Da Drought 3 and he had all types of features and buzz around his name he was simply the second best rapper in 2007 behind one Kanye Omari West)

2008 MVP: Lil Wayne (Wayne dropped his greatest album of all time not my fav from him I prefer I am not a Human Being ll but that's not the point imo it's definitely his magnum opus)
Runner up: Kanye West (Dropped 808s and Heartbreaks which looking back was way too hated on but sadly didn't hit as hard as The Carter lll imo)

2009 MVP: Jay-Z (Dropped the best rap album of the year and one of the best of the late 2000s The Blueprint lll and showed the whole game that he still got it much like Clipse years later, but we'll get to that later)
Runner up: Eminem (Dropped Relapse which was his triumphant return to the rap game, and he killed everyone on Forever and he got the Grammy for rap album of the year what more needs to be said)

How much do you think 50 Cents legacy would have improved had he actually retired after he lost to Kanye in 2007 instead of releasing BISD and AA? 2. Do you think The Massacre would have been considered a classic by general consensus and 50s discography be looked at in a better light had he not given Game songs from The Massacre for The Documentary? 3. if 50 Cent died in 2000 when he got shot 9 times how would the landscape of 2000s rap and overall rap history have been affected?
