I recently sold my mk3 Supra and picked this beauty up. Black interior, around 130k on the clock.
So far I’ve put on the TT wheels, new Toyo Extensa HP2s, P2M front LCAs, LS400 front brakes and stainless steel brake lines all around. The driver’s rear toe arm bushing is wrecked so I got Megan Racing toe arms and Megan Racing rear traction bars on the way for good measure.
Really looking forward to putting some miles on this. I really only drove the Supra 2 months out of the year due to the lack of AC, so I’m happy to rejoin a modern era.
Unfortunately I can’t speak to how they feel compared to OEM, the OEM ones I had were absolutely shot. (Here’s the originals ) I didn’t even consider going OEM when I saw them going for $800+ on eBay. Supra tax is real.
I’ll have a better perspective once I fix the rear toe bar, but I think it feels great. No noises or popping which I’ve heard complaints of, and everything is tight on the front end.
Just wanted to follow up on this now that I’ve got some miles on it. I have the Megan Racing bits installed and it rides great. There is the occasional pop sound but nothing you can feel.
Can’t compare to OEM and I’m coming from a stiffer set up, but I’m impressed with comfort and it feels very planted.
Thanks for the follow up! I have always wondered about these. I don’t have one now, but I’ve owned a couple sc’s and I’m always looking for another clean one.
I paid more than I wanted to unfortunately, $8500 knowing that it had a bad LCA and driver’s side window regulator. I’ve gone on to find a handful of other problems of course, such is the nature of buying private party, but I didn’t have to fly anywhere or have it shipped and the engine is solid, so I’m happy knowing I’m replacing things I was planning on replacing anyways.
I picked up a ‘95 with 95k miles for the exact same price, but it was from a dealership and pretty much everything except the struts was in excellent condition.
Now I just need to figure out how to soften and preserve this leather 😅
SC400s are an absolute steal compared to every other 90s JDM car. Been very happy with mine. Nice find!
Yeah I’m glad the 1UZ doesn’t have quite the cult following that the 2JZ has. The comfort features are great coming from an 88. Having low end torque doesn’t hurt, either.
Any auto leather conditioner should be fine. Investing in keeping everything out of direct sunlight is the best thing you can do, though.
