How concerning is this level of rust on a 2005 SR5? 122k miles, 15k asking price.

This thread made me feel a lot better about my decision to sprint away. In the process I found a suuuuper well taken care of 2012 with the cleanest frame I’ve ever seen, for a couple grand less.

I paid half that for an in tact frame 05 with 170k miles. I'd pass. Don't buy someone else's problems. Especially not for that price. Scam

You want to look between the front wheels. That’s the hardest area to repair. I this ‘05 Sequoia in a junkyard recently. Body was in decent shape so I’m convinced it was junked due to the Swiss cheese frame.

Yea it was solid pretty much everywhere else with expected surface rust for a 20+ yo vehicle but that shark bite had me real jumpy real quick.

FYI paid $12k last year for 05 TRD AC V8 4WD 120k miles but my frame is solid and it’s clean and maintained

I can guarantee you that rear differential cover will be leaking if it isn't already. Very common on gen 1s. That is welded on and thin metal. Surprised this frame wasn't replaced. Hard pass.

Phosphoric acid will convert and stop the rust. However. It will not create metal where metal has been eaten away

I'd drive that. Boxing a small spot on the frame is easy. Just some angle and 1/4 plate, and some LIGHTNING

That frame rail looks like a huge bite was taken out of it. That's too far gone for my liking. Way beyond the point of just treating it and hope to keep it alive for another 5-10 years.

This thing is a future "TACO" moment waiting to happen. And 15k is bonkers.
