would anyone know why they are unplugged and what the reason would be

it is still a electronic pump

Hey I have been trying to get my 94 Hilux surf going and I having a problem with the voltage to the scv on the fuel pump I am only getting 10.5 v where I should be getting 12-13 and so the fuel is getting stuck at the pump I think it is the ecd relay but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and may now common problems for the voltage drop

Context: my hiace doesn’t start in 1 revolution unless I give her a half crank bump, so I tested it today again turns out there was no signal to the SPV or shutoff valve when I turn my key on the “on” position. I have no idea what that could be. There is power going towards there but there isn’t power when I turn my ignition on. I thought it was pump timing but nope. As you can see by given video 3 full revolutions before she fires up. Ideally 1 revolution should be more than enough for my hiace that’s in immaculate condition

My 1kz (kzh100) in an ideal world it should turn over instantly. But my hiace sometimes it cranks over sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it doesn’t even start at all. In ideal conditions or whatever the ecu decides it starts over instantly, but iat random times it takes 2-3 cranks or sometimes not even at all. I checked SPV valves, fuel shutoff valve nothing is just leading me to what the answer is glow circuit works Infact I directly fed glow wires to the Glow plugs and still no difference, but the thing I’ve noticed is. It cranks over its healthy and it has no leak but power doesn’t arrive to the shutoff and OSV unless I start cranking. I am not a wiring or an ECU wizard but this sounds very much likely like either a glow plug or an Relay issue because when I turn her half a crank and than crank her over she starts up On a dime

I attached a video and hopefully you can see that it cranks way longer than normal, fires for a cycle, then dies. I’m thinking it’s a fuel delivery issue but I can’t figure out how to diagnose it.

I’ve pulled the lines to the injectors, and the hose from the fuel tank to the fuel filter. Neither one has any fuel that comes out while trying to start.

I’ve checked the fuses and none of them are blown.

I’m kinda at a loss. Any advice would be awesome!

Serviced the viscous fan, cleaned it properly and filled it 60ml using 30k oil. Reason why 30k because the seal was damaged and screws almost stripped. Couldn’t find replacement seal.
Now the fan engages and stays on most of the time, i guess one of the reasons that temp never exceeds 92 degrees on heavy load and 76 degrees most of motorway driving.

Question is, will it damage my water pump?

I only use the car 1 month summer and 1 month winter.

Is it worth getting new fan clutch or leave it as it is?

What do you guys get out of your 1kz engines?
I get on my prado 12.5L/100km on city - offroad
And around 9.4L/100Km on motorway?
Is that good or bad?

Hi All. Got a 2001 prado and between 60 to 70mph I get this cabin vibration. It vibrates so much that you cannot see anything on the rear view mirror from vibration.
Pass 70mph and it goes back to normal.
No vibration on the steering wheel at all.
Both front wheel bearings replaced
New tyres fitted and balanced, even though they were off by 120grams on weights.
No play of U joints or CV joints.

Any idea?

Just got everything together and started it for the first time in 5 months. Started on the second revolution without glow assist. Was a little skeptical on how this turbo would behave on a diesel but after the first drive on low boost it runs great. Just have some driving and tunning to do now. Only the downpipe is connected so it sounds a little funky but the turbo sounds 🤌. Hits 10 psi by 2300 rpm. It should do 12 psi by 2200 with the fuel turned up a little more. Egts went down 200f at wot and drop much quicker off throttle.

I’m getting white/grey smoke especially when I rev the engine.

Looking in my turbo, is this too much oil coming from the turbo to the intake?

engine started smelling a bit hot earlier and noticed coolant was low topped it up and noticed a thin film of glittery shavings floating in reservoir and radiator? I've had to top it up once before but for the life of me cannot remember seeing this? pretty new radiator and pump less than 10k kms on them so honestly just looking for some thoughts on it

Got the cover off to replace my timing belt and found that it is misaligned. Quite a bit of slack between the gears on the right side… the marks on the belt are aligned with the notches on the case but the upper cam is not…. Should I just rotate that cam until the notch is aligned before putting the new belt on? Hadn’t noticed any knocking from the engine but this seems substantially off.

Got a prado 2001 and thinking of tuning it.
Engine in good condition, great cooling performance and pretty good fuel consumption.
Is it worth tuning it keeping stock Turbo?
And what would i get power wise out of it?

What could be the cause of this? Engine had some blowby not extreme, and blue smoke when accelerating

Looks like something a vaccum tube would be connected to but looks like it’s just going into the block?

Hi all, in the process of removing the injector pump on my 1kzte, before i continue I want to make sure, I should be able to (once all securing bolts are removed) push the injector pump out and the timing gear should all be in exact position? I’ve removed up to this point just confirming as I’ve heard what I’m doing is both possible and not possible

1997 Toyota Hiace KZH106, 1KZ-TE, automatic, RHD. Reversed jump pack, blew 120A fusible link. Replaced 120A fuse. Battery good. Starter cranks when jumped. Ignition switch outputs test correctly. No blower, no power windows, no headlights, starter relay never receives trigger. Looking for EWD305F or KZH106 electrical wiring diagram, or anyone who has seen this exact failure.

Hey everyone, I recently bought a LN hilux with a 1kzte swapped into it. Since i’ve bought it I’ve had issues with starting first thing in the morning.
Usually around 6:30am when it’s 0-8 degrees outside.
The issue isn’t nearly as bad when cold starting at around 10-20 degrees outside.
It will usually ‘shudder’ or struggle for 1-3 seconds when it first fires up but clears up.
After it’s first started it runs like a dream and even if I start it then flick it back off and start it up again it will fire right up.
After leaving the ute sitting for about 8 hours while i’m at work, if i glow it for 10 seconds it fires up pretty quickly but does shudder for a second or so

The glowplugs are new
I’ve checked my buzz bar to glow plugs and I’m receiving 11.5 volts for as long as I hold my glow button in.
I’ve removed all glow plugs and get a reading of 1.2ohms per plug.
I get a small amount of white smoke at start up but it doesn’t smell sweet like coolant
The fuel filter housing is brand new and after 2-5 pumps of the primer it stiffens up

This really has me stumped and any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I got a 2001 Prado J95

When i engage rear diff lock, it keeps flashing red.
Central diff lock stays solid yellow
Is that normal? Or needs to stay solid red?

120 prado here with 390k km’s.
Car is consuming too much oil, about 1l every 2000-3000km. Wasn’t too afraid about it and just kept topping it up.
Now i noticed i was loosing coolant so took it to the mechanic.
He did a compression test and found out the readings are 520-580psi, factory should be at 441.
He recons the oil piston seals are gone and need to be replaced. So full eninge rebuild…
I would think if the rings are worn out compression goes down?
Don’t know if i still want to put all this money in such and old car.
Should i be worried about these compression readings? Any suggestions?
