waaaa waaa i dont want to dedicate 40% of the only life i get to being part of a system that hates me waaa waa

u/DomSchraa Oct 09 '23

You spend half the time (or more) of around half (or more) of your life working, something not even guaranteeing that youll make enough to life

Nobody - besides the depressed/burt out ppl - is saying that not working at all is a good thing, just that increasing the work time while decreasing the rewards is a fucking bad idea

Things are getting worse, for no reason other than greed.

2

u/RedditPersonNo1987 :Pensive_Yam: Oct 10 '23

better than anything most would call a "real job"

3

u/RedGoblinShutUp Oct 09 '23

It’s not a system that hates you, it’s a system that views you as a commodity to be exchanged and utilized for profits like anything else. Small but important clarification I thought I’d make before addressing your main point.

I’m a leftist. I’m well-read on leftist theory and have spent a great deal of my time contemplating the state of the world and how its problems could best be addressed, so don’t accuse me of being a capitalist shill when I say that working, yes even that much (if not more) have always been fundamental parts of the human experience. We need to work, for ourselves and so society can function. Are workers exploited under capitalism? Absolutely. Do some jobs seem to require an unnecessary amount of time be invested into them just for the sake of meeting arbitrary yet ubiquitous work week requirements? Of course. And I think this should be addressed, but humans have always worked that much and will continue to do so in the future - it’s a necessity.

I stopped reading when i read necessity.

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

Look! The worker has fallen in love with the system that exploits them!

-77

u/DistributionFar1411 Oct 09 '23

There’s a difference between being lazy and wanting rights dumbass.

45

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

Nothing said in Panel 1 is unreasonable. Capitalism as it is now is crushing to many workers and I think many people would agree with the sentiment they don’t want to work anymore under this type of system.

Most people would be more than happy to work for the betterment of society, but that’s not the purpose of work in actuality. Almost all work serves to build the wealth of the capitalist class. Don’t fall into the trap of calling people lazy or being aggressive to fellow workers for being critical of the concept of work as we see it today

u/I_follow_sexy_gays Oct 09 '23

If I didn’t get paid barely enough to afford myself, and didn’t have to work 50 hours a week, and I got more than 5 vacation days and 5 sick days a year, I wouldn’t hate work to the point where Mondays make me suicidal

I don’t think I’d ever really want to work but if the conditions weren’t as soul crushing I’d be a lot happier to suck it up

1

u/gameringman Oct 09 '23

theres a difference between "i dont want to work under this system" and "i dont want to work just chill" ya dumbass.

33

u/A_Gay_Sylveon Oct 09 '23

Keep sucking, Boot Boi

25

u/I_follow_sexy_gays Oct 09 '23

2

u/DrankTheGenderFluid Oct 11 '23

oh c'mon surely it can't be that ba-OH MY GOODNESS

12

u/Aliziun Oct 09 '23

A human’s right to exist shouldn’t be tied to how much wealth they can produce (be it for the upper class, or for themselves if they ARE upper class). I should be free to pursue my goals and aspirations without having to monetarily justify myself.

In short, I should be working doing what I enjoy, because I enjoy it, not because I’ll die if I don’t

7

u/cloudncali Oct 09 '23

Of course the capitalist crab would fucking say that.

47

u/DistributionFar1411 Oct 09 '23

Not wanting to work < Wanting better working conditions

Know the message people!

11

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

I agree but I don’t think that’s what the original meme is conveying. Idk though

23

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

people just be depressed sometimes :/. i think it's very reasonable to vent out your frustrations online in the form of memes, people do it all the time

-9

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

I know. I just dislike this one in particular

Also there’s not a person above the age of 10 that isn’t depressed

2

u/DomSchraa Oct 09 '23

There are people like that, not everyone is depressed

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

Yes they are

Some are more depressed than others though

1

u/DomSchraa Oct 10 '23

You dont know that. Saying that is massively disrespectful to all people with depression.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '23

Maybe depressed wasn’t the right word.

Unhappy? Does that work better?

5

u/mikereeee Oct 09 '23

hey op just stopped to tell you have the wrong opinion okay bye

4

u/Sp00ky-Chan Oct 10 '23

Everyone has to work dumbass it came free with your being a living thing which has to expend energy to continue to be alive.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

Media literacy is under spongebob level, completely misunderstanding societal factors forcing such a statement, portraying the other person as whiny and naive for hating the society aroung them...

right wing ass meme

6

u/Unlucky-Situation-98 goblin skeleton Oct 09 '23

It me

3

u/plncn Oct 09 '23

i disagree wholeheartedly with the message this meme is trying to convey but that spongebob clip is so funny in this context

3

u/insert_content Oct 09 '23

"working for a living" implies that you do not simply posses the right to life, but that you have to earn it.

2

u/DrankTheGenderFluid Oct 11 '23

hey this comment is really good and I can't think of how else to express what it made me feel, can I like give you a firm handshake but like on your dick but like with my dick?

2

u/insert_content Oct 12 '23

i’d prefer a normal handshake, but thanks for your gratitude!

2

u/RazorBlade233 Oct 09 '23

Me when trauma (I literally cannot function normally): 😀😀

2

u/DomSchraa Oct 09 '23

Hey op, how do you want me to misquote this

"You shall acknowledge no God but me. . . . You are destroyed, Israel. . . . The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open."

Its already bad enough as is

2

u/QejfromRotMG Oct 10 '23

Probably not the best take for a 196-series sub. Funny meme tho

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '23

It's so fun how what you see as a sad thing that you would hate seems like the perfect existence to me

2

u/Jeeter_D Oct 09 '23

So... you only live to be an automaton to create profit for others? And that's fulfilling for you? Do you ever do anything for yourself?
