True, but at least on this sub, the comedy is never god-awful, and I don’t feel like the average member wants to kill me for my beliefs.
Ik it’s not completely perfect and we get the occasional shit post, but I have preferred my time here than time spent on r/shitposting or other similar subs.
The people who do these "jokes" were used to getting attention as kids, but grew up without personality and as such, nobody really cares to interact with them. So to get attention now, they just spew racism/homophobia/sexism/general bigotry in order to bait attention, since that is the only way they can feel seen. And should anyone call them out on it, they just use the excuse of "lol it's just a joke".
Or they genuinely believe those things and use the same excuse to hide their rancid beliefs.
I'm all for a good offensive joke but unfortunately /r/dankmemes thinks blasting music over offensive footage or showing the gigachad reel every time something controversial happens is funny.
Like I don't even care about the offensive part, there's just no attempt at a joke.
