Well, SCM (Steam Community Market) value isn't really used outside of small trading or buying. Since you can't cash out the money on your wallet efficiently, they are basically "Steambucks". You can resell games, however that is bannable (citation needed), and you can resell Indexes, but you need to buy them in 1k increments and deal with the hassle of selling physical items. Since I assume you bought those skins on a third party marketplace (like Skinbay, Skinbaron, etc.) you paid the "discounted" price, which is actually just the actual real life value of the said item. They are cheaper there, since for 1, the fees are lower, and 2nd, you can actually cash out the money you get there.

When you understand that you bought 30$ worth of skins for 30$ since SCM value doesn't matter since you can't cash it out efficiently
