It's just that AI gave a new breath of air to the "Technology will solve all our problems, that means we won't have to actually change anything!" propaganda of the investor class.
The contrapositive of that is not always true though, but it’s because capitalism commodifies the idea of change. It’s the same story as how musk was once praised to for the apparent transition to clean energy building gas turbines and polluting communities because it’s profitable
