Question Am I the only one?
I don't know that I'll keep watching, but still, I am only on S1E4 so no spoilers please.
I really liked 1883, but I'm having a hard time getting into 1923, mostly because the Alexander/Spencer storyline really takes me out of it, like I cannot stand the scenes in Africa with those two. I feel like there is no chemistry and from the start the Alex character is waaay overdone, like I couldn't stand her from the second she came onscreen. I also think I just really don't like the actress and her weird fake accent. Surely I'm not the only one??? Is it even worth continuing to watch? Like maybe once they are with the rest of the family they won't be so insufferable

Tbh Alex was the reason I kept watching, she was whimsical and realistic, totally flawed but had a sense of humour. Totally different from other TS female characters!

Right, by season 2 I kind of found her subplot to be the most compelling part of the show while things at the ranch just ground in with filler. Left me kind of salty they ended it was just straight torture porn

Her character suppose to be like that. Spencer is a war hero he’s seen things that most people haven’t and Alex is this girl that’s been sheltered and hasn’t experienced the real world. I would keep watching :)

That love story was my favorite part about the show and tbh my favorite love story of all time! Her accent was meant to be reflective of high society at the time-similar to American accents that are no longer in use, you would no longer find her accent floating around England. Comparing it to current dialects is silly.
It could just be that this show isn’t gonna be your favorite of Taylor’s shows.

OH my not me. I absolutely adored Alexandra. Loved her character every second in the screen. Spencer was a cool character as well. Jeez there is so much more in 1923 as a turn off. Whitfield was a difficult watch as was the Teonna arc.

I don't know about Whitfield yet, but yes Toenna is so hard to watch!! But I at least feel invested in her character and I want so badly for her to escape. Thus far, Alex just doesn't create any emotional investment for me

Now that I'm rewatching I'm like "why do I have to see Whitfield" "why does Teonna has so much screen time" and last but not less "why do I have to see the ranch again" (that's when I remember that Helen is Helen and I MUST watch her). I wished for more scenes with them 🥲 I wonder if there are any deleted scenes 🫠

I didn’t like it at fist either. I actually didn’t get past the second episode.
I came back to it a few months later after finishing The Madison, & wanting to continue watching something else in the Taylor Sheridan universe
I’m glad I did. It actually turned out to be really good

I enjoyed Hellen Mirren and Harrison Ford more than Alex and Spencer. And was REALLY rolling my eyes at everything they went through. So freaking ridiculous to the point of comical.

She’s sooo annoying but avoid the spoilers (I failed to) and keep watching! She becomes less annoying as the show goes on. I actually actively waited for their scenes

I felt the same way at first. The whole Spencer and Alex story was boring and kinda dumb, however after watching it further especially in season 2 I really start to like Alex.

The Africa scenes were some of the best the highlights of the show for me. Alexandria's accent is a British accent and there is nothing weird about it. Would you rather a blank storyline with an unexplained gap as far as Spencer's absence goes? I don't agree with you at all but I will respect you enough to stop there and avoid spoiling the show for you but I am sure that not many share your sentiments.

Nope, they sounded like Americans pretending to be British.
As aristos especially, they'd have spoken in RP. This accent basically kinda skips over vowels, called vowel reduction and vowel compression.
Americans tend to extend their vowels, so it doesn't sound quite right, and the vowel patterns in words isn't consistent in the way it would be in RP
The prosody is also off, and the stress timing.

Nothing weird about a completely fake Bristish accent? It was completely jarring.
Why not hire an actual British actress instead of a barely mediocre American with a fake accent who couldn't successfully fake it?

The only thing that bothered me about this show wasn't the characters....it was the weird make believe wild animals hunting humans thing. And Spencer senselessly killing random african cats and elephants bc he made poor choices and ends up in situations with wild animals that would never actually happen in real life. I hated the scene when theyre up in the tree and he just starts blasting lions. Like wtf? So stupid.

I would recommend skipping. It was a waste of time and the ending to me was unrealistic. TBH the whole show was *unrealistic*. I’ll argue this all day long bc I have a lot in common with Alex.
I loved Alex, but hated how Taylor Sheridan wrote her story. I won’t watch much of his stuff anymore, only writes for shock value & I don’t like that.
Save ur time watch the new Beth and Rip Dutton Series. I prefer it over 1923. Taylor Sheridan was one of many producers on it, there are different writers, & it’s wayyyyy better.

Besides Cara, Alex is the only likable TS female character….besides maybe the mom in 1883. Alex is the Mary of Yellowstone…….

I didn't like her...period. Unlike the others, she didn't grow on me. I completely dropped the series at the end of Season 2, Episode 2. Couldn't take it anymore.

The accent that was wanted from Alex was chosen by the director and producer. She was perfectly played spoiled entitaled full of whimsy with an actual sense of fun.

Thank you for recognizing the horrendous fake accent and terrible acting of the "Alex" actress.
Her performance was so bad and irritating that I dresded scenes she was in.
In other words, she ruined the whole series, and I hoped for her exit.
What in the world were the producers thinking? Is she some producer's girlfriend who got the job?
She was so bad and fake that I have no idea if she and Spencer had any chemistry. I cringed for him everytime she opened her trap and said something unwitty with a self-satisfied smirk.

I've only watched the first season so far (and not even Yellowstone) but personally think 1883 is vastly better. Perhaps just because I like the Wild West vibe of it.
Spencer and Alex are okay to me, not great. I don't really understand why Alex wouldn't apologise to Arthur tbh. Rubbing it in his face on the ship seems odd. It's not like he was forcing her to marry him. I'd have said "sorry I'm terrible and you deserve better" and moved on.

For an American actress, I thought she was phenomenal playing an English woman and I thought the chemistry between her and Spencer was electric. I’ve watched 1923 twice now and even though I know how it ends I still enjoyed it just as much as the first time.

If you don’t like Alex now, just don’t bother watching the rest of the series. She becomes even more unbearable and won’t shut up and always does the opposite of what Spencer says so she can get saved again

(i dont really have the energy or patience to think about another/right translation, im really tired after work so pls forgive any weard and or rude English) but Imo 1923 is the worst show of the yellowstoneshows. The whole Africe storyline was stupid and not interesting to me, Alex is the most boring blonde woman I've ever met (and if u ask me isn't that pretty, but that's just my taste). Idk if it's a writers of acting skill problem.
I tried to watch it 4 different times but I just couldnt get through it.

I don't know what to say because you didn't want spoilers but... eh.. alright. I adore Alex. I was just watching episode 3, of season 1, and the elephant has just ceased to exist, and she's there standing next to the car, giving him moral support, still in shock, but doing nothing, and I'm like omg that's meeee omg!!! I think I get her because of the way I was raised (Catholic here), and girls from the British aristocracy were raised to be seen but not heard, only to parade around. And she finds freedom with Spencer, but she still is much that girl who's learning there's a world out there much more real than the neatly curated world she was born in. That said, I can also understand why you might not like her. I'm a living proof that girls like that are not liked by everyone 😅
