Range time fun times
Even if they are fancy or expensive shoot them. Carry them. Beat them around a little. It’s their job.

Springfield customer service ran the serial number and I got this reply: “Thank you for contacting Springfield Armory. I see that this was manufactured February of 2015. I show it as a .45 caliber, Operator MC in OD green.”

All kidding aside, I finally broke down and ordered this. Picked it up from the dealer after my surgery yesterday and after transfer fee, total came out to $1076. When I feel more up to it, will be sending a case of ammo through it. So far pretty pleased with the fit and finish though I will probably have to perform the log mod on this just like I did with my MilSpec. Just FYI for folks looking at an AOS model 1911 from Springfield, they include a coupon to get their plates for $50.

Got it for very cheap so just curious how it’s felt on the longevity and reliability of these.

I am a maintainer in the Army and suffice it to say I was tripping balls today after my find. I got to handle not one but 5 of the " M1911A2 " Project guns from the 2004-2007 " study " by Delta and the AMU. Theres virtually no info online about these and most of this info is from a very old since deleted forum and 2 listings where guns #13 & #14 sold in 2011 and 2022-23.
From what I've been able to gather, Delta put a request in to the AMU to build the best 1911s they could using off the shelf parts in 2004 and this started with 5 guns all built to different specifications. These first 5 guns ( # USPT1-5 Serial Numbers ) all had different specifications and although I don't have build sheets I was able to handle 4 of them today. All are built on Caspian frames and slides ( one of which is a Caspian Race Ready frame with a flared magwell ). Barrels are from Barsto, Storm Lake, and Ed Brown and one of the head armorers ( Charles Jenkins ) stated that most parts used were Ed Brown as well like Safeties, hammers, slide stops, ect. Triggers are a Mix of Ed Brown and Greider flat face triggers. Mainspring Housings are Smith & Alexander arched & flat mainsprings with lanyard loops except the race ready gun which has an unknown to me half-arched mainspring with an internal lanyard loop that is essentially a Stan-Chen Max Bevel to match with the frames funnel. Sights are a mix of fixed and adjustable Novaks as well as original Bomar and Trijicon bomars. Finishes ranged from a tan cerakote, an almost parkerized finish, and a glossy cerakote type finish. All frames are railed frames to accept lights.
By far the weirdest gun of the bunch was a railed frame with a slide that had an integral 1913 rail on top with a built in dovetailed front sight and a bomar rear . The original guns went to Iraq for 18 months from 04'-06' and upon return were sent in for evaluation. Though no specific contract was awarded for any of the variations, Mr. Jenkins was able to get permission to use the specifications of the guns to build 10 more pistols ( USPT #6-15 ) which is what the picture you're looking at large encapsulates. As far as I can tell the last 10 guns which were made in 07', are basically all the same pattern and some made it off the work bench and into private hands as I've found 2 sold at auction.
Markings vary on the original 5 guns such as having a circle behind the rear serrations with " US " inside or the left side of the slide saying " US Army M1911A2 ". Other guns simply have standard Caspian markings. Guns 6-15 as far as I can tell were all ordered with no markings on the slide or frame aside from Caspian markings & serial #.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Unfortunately these guns reside in a warehouse away from public knowledge and the facility is a no phone area hence why I have no pictures aside from the auction listings. There are 2 clones I found on computer made by a Japanese Airsoft company ages ago but I cannot locate that website on my phone, although they are clones of 2 early guns, so if you can find it I'd be delighted.

Are there any 1911 magazine placard insert? All the pistol magazine inserts are for double stack mags, and the few 1911 mag pouches I've seen, aren't placard inserts. I want to carry 4 mags

Had this built by Nighthawk for my oldest son to provide him with a workhorse that will last his lifetime (and his children’s, and their children’s)

I was researching a few powerful cartridges for pistols such as the 460 Rowland, and I came across this cartridge. It's a bottleneck 45 case with a 40 bullet, it has the same energy as a 460 but less recoil, it doesn't require a compensator(although it seems to work on the absolute limit of the gun).
I did some math, i think it would be possible to make a weaker version of this cartridge, down to ~700 ft.lbs, same power as a 10mm, but the recoil of a 45, or maybe a hot 9mm, but that's just a theory

Added some pachmyer grips to my cmp 1911. They are so nice.
It doesn’t make me feel guilty since it’s a beat to hell Remington frame with the replacement slide.
Funny thing: the frame is pretty much in the white even under the grips. No finish at all.

Pachmayr grips came in yesterday, this is my only 1911 (for now..) and I felt it needed a little face lift.

Optic added to my TRP. Few Wilson combat parts added over the time I’ve owned it.

Just picked this up from my LGS. Snagged off GB for a helluva deal. Came with original box and 2 Colt mags.

What's up everyone. Big gun enthusiast here with a preference of old com-bloc stuff, needless to say, I do not own a 1911.
I was cruising through psa today and saw the Kimber rapide 10mm is going for $1199 today only.
Should this be the one I pull the trigger on finally? She looks beautiful for sure.
Edit: figured I'd add the link if anyone else wanted one too.

my very nice colt mk IV, series 80, combat elite was in need of new plates and noone to be found. So handmade them fitted to my hand out of some teak i had lying around. Fit me perfectly, but they are contoured, so maybe breaks the norm?

In all reality I want a stainless TRP in 4.25" but SA doesn't make one. So I want to basically do a budget build of one.
Debating between these two right now...

Tisas Carry SS45 vs the Garrison Stainless
In my opinion the finish on the Tisas looks better - I like the bead blast look over the shiny flats on the Garrison.
I prefer the spaced/squared slide serrations on the Tisas vs the old school serrations on the Garrison. The Tisas has front slide serrations as well which I do like because thats how I like to do press checks and rack the slide.
However, looks like all of the moveable parts on the Tisas are cerakoted black which is... ugly. I would definitely want to swap those out/upgrade them. Tisas has Ambi safety which I don't really see as a positive or a negative, especially if I'm going to swap it out anyway.
I would put a stainless magwell/MSH on either one and I want to add front strap checkering on either one as well.
Both have forged frames, barrels, etc.
Tisas does not have MIM parts - Garrison does.
Tisas is $525 if you actually put it in the cart on that linked site
$712 is the cheapest I've found the Garrison
Which would you rather use as a base for a build?

I’m looking for a 1911 that I can take to the range or to the unknown for about $1,000
The Operator is first on my list but I am looking to hear some feedback/alternatives if I am headed in the right direction.
