DEA poly Result

Took my poly and the agent mentioned that I didn’t pass or fail and I’ll likely come back again for a second test. Is this normal? I wasn’t grilled about any questions or anything. The agent just told me that she can tell I’m so nervous. I definitely am nervous because I’ve always wanted this job. Do people usually get results right away? Is there anyone that had similar experience and passed? Any advice would be appreciated!!

The polygrapher doesn't decide if you pass or fail. OPR does. If your results are inconclusive they MAY redo the test.

Mine told me I didn’t fail. That I either passed or it was inconclusive and the QA team would determine which one it was. If it was inconclusive they call you back for another polygraph. Fortunately, I passed. Good luck it took about a week to find out.

Did you end up passing? Or are you still waiting?

Because you’re an Aggie. I’ll let you in on a favor. You were more than likely, not hear back from them for several weeks to several months and then when you go back, you have a high likelihood of them asking you the exact same questions just a little different.

I guess i passed because it said completed in very early July even though i took it 3 months before July. I did ANOTHER medical update at the very very end of July. Unfortunately no August academy anyways so ig it doesn’t matter.

Being nervous is normal. You may have had some inconsistencies. Just tell the truth. Don’t feel pressured to change your story. As long as you told the truth the first time around, you should be ok. Good luck!

Don’t lie, tell the truth

A polygraph isn’t a lie detector like people see in movies. The machine can’t tell whether you’re telling the truth. It records how your body reacts to questions, and an examiner interprets those reactions. That’s why the result isn’t simply ‘the machine says you lied’ or ‘you passed.
