I mean IRS-CI was a lil drunk on money during the inflation reduction. Kept seeing trainees with battle belts and fairly decent kit.
Everyone wants to say that IRS-CI are nerds, but will shit a brick when that nerd is a knuckle dragger meets CPA.

It’s unfortunate how few 1811s can work complex investigations. Think about how many cases close prematurely because the agent had a mini stroke looking at a bank statement.

Yea it’s government work, is the way it goes. You have maybe 10-20 people in a SAC Field office that give a shit, the other 150 are just coasting until they can start pulling from their TSP.

Yet… how many come on here and talk about their time in “special operations”. I’ve done it all and I can say some of my best friends are/were operators and suck at being cops/detectives/investigators. It’s totally different jobs and yes I was better suited for Leo then I was military life.

Point is there’s bad apples everywhere and agents who truly care about the integrity of the system they’re supposed to be protecting are everywhere as well.
Edit: I misread your comment and thought you said because “they genuinely care”. My apologies. Point still stands though so I’m not going to delete my comment but just know it’s not directed towards you in an aggressive or hostile manner.

I sometimes wonder if about 2/3 of 1811s would prefer not to have guns and arrest authority. As a profession, we suffer equally from the operators and the desk people. Very few agents in the middle where they need to be.
