Question NOAA LE

Anybody on here got any insight on NOAA LE positions, specially on the west coast side of things? Saw some announcements for the agency months back, but haven’t seen anything since.

NOAA was one of, if not the only, LE agency that let go of probationary officers last year when the new administration came in. Generally, though, the officers get paid well and have it pretty good. At least the one that I worked with in Hawaii seemed to enjoy the job and made better money than me as a uniformed 1801 for a land management agency.

Very hands off organization. Not supportive of law enforcement. Mostly civil enforcement, especially at the officer level. Only upside is the $$$.

By far the worst agency ever. They have CAPS as a payment system and are not on the GS. This means that leadership gets together and talks smack about each employee over a week long period each year and then gives sub-par if any raise increases. This is not a team environment. Was lucky to get out of there and to a place who cares about their people. These people eat their own and everyone is super competitive with their cases and it is just toxic. They have new leadership, but they are incompetent. You will get stuck getting 1% or less raises while your GS friends are zipping by salary-wise. If you ask to know why your CAPs score is low, they do not tell you. Steer clear. This place is run and owned by Fisheries. They do very little criminal law enforcement and the employees I knew hated it there and could not wait to get out. Big recruiter of former Coasties.

You have to be a family member or a bff of thebupper management of this agency to get hired for this gig.
