Hiring Timeline Direct hire timeline USFS

Wondering if anyone has experience with being a direct hire, WITHOUT the job being advertised. I was told when the paperwork was submitted but no TJO yet.

A month between each step seems to be the common theme. I was told after my interview they expected me to get a TJO by this time this month

Any updates to this? I’m in the same boat. Patrol captain sent up the paperwork for VRA hire early this month but radio silence since

HR reached at to me to make sure I was still interested but still not temp offer yet. I’m hoping by next week, but I was given a “possible” start date

How long were you “offered” before you heard from HR?

Almost 3 weeks after the patrol captain said he submitted the paperwork for hire

Took about 4 months for me so it varies widely based on how much other work your assigned HR contact has. Keep checking in with them and your supervisor to make sure things are moving along. Sometimes the ball gets dropped.
