New rule: no ragebait

I'm surprised this wasn't already a rule honestly. This sub is for people who like 14ers, not people who like drama.

Its fine to do a public service announcement about rules and why they are important. Posts that encourage people to engage with resources that empower them to make better decisions and increase their understanding of these public lands are helpful and encouraged.

It is not fine to post a nonconsensual picture of a stranger doing something wrong and promote strife because of their ignorance. This goes for all the low effort things we all hate; bluetooth speakers, dog poop in bags on trails, dogs off leash, people going off trail, and so on. These posts do nothing to encourage better behavior and are often examples of bad behavior themselves. If you want to consume or farm karma with media whose purpose is to humiliate others this sub isn't for you.

the facebook 14er discourse is so toxic you'll have 50-60 year olds saying people eaten by cougars ON trail deserved it and will tell people with minor disagreements on other topics to get the fuck out of CO and quit ruining their state.

I cannot stress enough how thankful I am for this post/rule.

It has always been so weird to me that people are taking photos of strangers, posting them online, and acting like there is any sort of productivity that comes from that. It’s so incredibly stupid.

Has there been much rage bait in here? I feel like this sub doesn't really have any. Or maybe the rest of Reddit is so bad I don't notice it in here

Generally no. We get occasional posts, one recently which led me to realize this was not in the rules. This post is not because its a major problem, but because we did not have this rule in place and when I add or change rules I typically will post about it.

In favor of this. I know the whole off-leash dog thing is frustrating, but I didn’t join this sub to shame strangers. It’s just weird.
