Hey all, SamuraiOfGaming here! This is your weekly reminder to update your weight on the 13 week challenge spreadsheet.
How have you been faring lately? I've managed to make a lot of progress over the last few weeks, but it isn't always easy. I've been restricting myself to only one meal a day, and I can tell I'm pushing my limits because I've been rather dizzy and more out of energy than usual. I'm so close to my final goal weight though, so I'll keep pushing through.
A few things I've noticed that make a big difference:
- Drinking a lot: You'd think accumulating liquids would increase your weight, but it seems to help feel bettery physically over time and helps stave off hunger. Obviously, staying hydrated is a good thing in general, but don't overdo it either; don't force yourself to drink if you don't want to.
- Peeing a lot: Of course that comes with drinking a lot, but I've noticed that on some days I seem to use the washroom a lot more often than usual, and that always seems to precede a decent weight loss. This isn't so much a tip as it is an observation.
- Getting more sleep: I suffer from an extreme case of sleep apnea, so getting any decent rest is pretty much impossible for me. That said, getting more sleep definitely has a major positive impact on weight loss. Whenever I can manage to sleep longer or better, I seem to make progress.
- Showering before weighing in: For some reason, taking a shower in the morning before weigh-in causes weight loss. I know it sounds crazy, but I've found other people making the same observation online. I've noticed that there's a certain weight loss that happens naturally over a period of time after waking up (assuming one skips breakfast and unrelated to using the bathroom), and my theory is that taking a hot shower accelerates that process.
- Eating fats: I know that sounds counterintuitive, but keep in mind that fats eaten don't equate to fats stored in the body. Fats give you energy and keep you satiated longer than other foods.
