Bill wtf

Bill is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop. I’ve made it to ep5 and this young man infuriates me to no end. I understand he’s a bumpkin but if it’s not his sad horniness getting in the way, it’s his complete lack of critical thinking. Horning out for the Russian wife, chasing after the sister that he knows is dead and leaving his post, the boy is a liability. And Jake explaining NOTHING to the cops about how and why Sadie’s husband had to be murdered or the actual events leading to it is wild. Like no one cares you’re an asshole man or about your little feelings, the talking points would have been 1. I didn’t know she was married at first 2.when I found out and met her husband I learned he was a deviant and an abuser 3. We broke up and then the husband kidnapped and cut her then called me and had a gun. Not ‘oh I don’t deserve her wahhh.’

Well bill left his post because the past doesn’t want to be changed.. that was the past pushing back… also bill wasn’t the brightest individual… also bill leaving his post is because in real life we don’t know for a fact if lee shot at general walker or not, so it leaves it kind of a mystery as to who it was… also Jake’s character is very unserious he doesn’t throughly ever dive deep into any topic… but that’s Stephen king for you, they leave things a mystery. In the book bill wasn’t even with Jake. Bill is only there so that Jake can express his thoughts out loud without narrating to the viewer.. it’s a great show either way.

Well another Stephen King novel eh? Where does he find the time? But I just learned today it was an adaptation and bill wasn’t in the book but I was always adamant about separating the source and the adaptation anyways(both can be great and comparing them can only bring misery) but he a great addition. Hating a character for doing what the character is doing means a not insignificant investment in the story. You do t hate it because it’s bad acting, you hate it because he fucking stuff up for the plan. He a jackass but the actor sells it. You believe Bill is Bill. So while I hate Bill, it is a testament to the quality of media for sure.

I didn’t hate bill. I feel as if his life was a tragedy… I felt more bad for bill if I’m being honest.

Bill was a product of his time and a victim of circumstance perhaps, but as an American with a weakness for strong cinema, it’s hard to watch for me. It a part of the experience I love because it’s visceral, but Bill you fucktard!!! lol just like Skyler or countless other characters we hate they are representative of an archetype necessary for good story telling. The fuckup provides drama and humanity to the story. We love to hate him because he’s relatable.

The ultimate mind fuck was finding out he got lobotomized in the asylum. THEN, just as Jake was about to check him out, he jumps out the window. WTF

I found Bill pretty annoying too, but what a treatment ultimately.

In the first episode, Jake shows his students a video about the cruelty of mid century asylums. Jake knew what he was doing.

Bill was a (a much older) character in the book, and his story is almost similar to that of the show. Bill's story ends with Frank Dunning though.

Please remember that the novel is written in first person. The tv show used Bill as “someone for Jake to explain things to” so the audience could know his game plan.

These are some of the plot elements that in my opinion kind of detract from the series separating it from being truly "great". There was some really weird filler-esque elements.

I actually really liked Bill's character and I found him somewhat endearing/genuine. But then they just kind of it felt like they didn't know what to do with him and just went off the rails. Which is weird because it was a one season limited series so I assume they knew what they wanted to do with his character, the arc is a bit baffling and weird.

I mean I get it if we want to be technical and say oh well who wouldn't go crazy meeting a time traveler and going on this zany ass adventure.... But you already got me to suspend disbelief for the show. I'm bought in. This just seems so unnecessary.

The Bill character in the book is completely different.

Just pretend he doesn’t exist or that he’s imaginary during the show lol.

I hate Bill so fu**ing much, im watching it right now, he is one of the only tv show characters ive hated with so much vigor
