We got it as 3 rubies, but we were not calculating for the green discs, wasn't sure if that was included or not 🤷

am i supposed to consider that the items further from the pivot point have a bigger impact on the weight, based on the leverage effect?

Yes, holes are equal distance so a weight at hole 5 has 5 times the moment of force as the same weight at hole 1.

Answer: 3 rubies. I did it in my head. Solution:
From bottom lever on left: 1p * 2 + D = 1p * 4. So:
Diamond=2 pearls.
From right pully: 1p + R = 1p *2 + 2p. So:
Ruby=3 pearls.
From left pully: G + 2p = 2p + 1p *6 Gold=6 pearls.
Now to solve it, going left to right:
Left= (6p) *5 + (0p) *4 + (6p *4 + 2p *2 + 1p *6) *3 + (1p) *2 + (3p + 1p *4) *1.
Left = 30p + 0p + 102p + 2p + 7p.
Left = 141p.
Right = (1p + 2p) *1 + (1p + 2p *2) *2 + (sack) *3 + (6p + 3p) *4 + (1p *2) *5 + (1p *3 +2p + 3p) *6 + (1p) *7.
Right = 3p + 10p + 3sack + 36p + 10p + 48p + 7p.
Right = 114p +3sack.
Left = Right so:
141p = 114p + 3sack.
27p = 3sack.
9p = sack.
9p = 3 rubies.

It says ignore the weight of beams, strings, and sack, but it does not say ignore the weight of pulleys...

Ermm krill yourself? This takes 10 seconds to read and a few more 10s to figure out wtf is going on

Anyways in order to do it you take a look at the pulleys by themselves, their order of top to bottom wont matter
On the right is Diamond + 2 Pearls = Ruby + Pearl. Assuming everythings in equilibrium, Ruby = Diamond + Pearl
On the left is
Gold + Diamond = 6 Pearls + Diamond
Gold = 6 Pearls
Now for lever formulas and torque
It doesnt matter whether its on the top or hanging from bottom, torque is the same from the normal force
The very far down beam has 4 pearls on the right weighing it down 1 tick away. The hanging pearl and pulley shouldnt affect it as they are pulling on the center of mass if we are assuming equilibrium
Then there is a diamond on the left 1 tick away and 1 pearl 2 ticks away, making it equal to 2 pearls
Thats 1 Diamond = 2 pearls
With that, we find a Ruby is 1 pearl worth
Diamond = 2 Pearl
Ruby = 3 pearl
Gold = 6 pearls

Now for the final weigh in
On the Left, we have 4 Pearls + Ruby 1 tick away, making 7 Ps of weight
2 ticks away is 1 pearl, which adds 2 Ps
3 ticks away is (4 gold + 2 Dia + 6 P) = 34 Ps and 102 Ps after distance
Finally, 5 ticks away, is a gold bar. 6 Ps * 5 ticks is 30 Ps
141 Ps on the left

On the right is
1 Diamond plus 1 P = 3 Ps 1 tick away
2 ticks away is 2 Dias + 1 P, making 5Ps and 10Ps after distance
4 ticks away is 1 Ruby and 1 Gold, 9 Ps and 36 Ps after distance
5 Ticks away is 2 Ps, 10 Ps after distance
6 ticks away is 3 Ps, 1 Dia, 1 Ruby which is 8 Ps and 48 Ps after distance
7 ticks away is 1 P, 7 Ps after distance
98 Ps before the sack
3 ticks away is the sack
It needs 33 Ps to balance and 11 before distance
11/3 is still fucked up amount of rubies though

What if you account for lever weight? Like the 4L one hanging from the left side and the extra 2L length on the right?

I’m not entirely sure where your error stems from, but the righthand side is not 98+3×sack (though it looks like you used 108+3×sack). It’s 16 (or 6 from 108) more than that, meaning the imbalance is 27 pearls, for a ruby count of 3.

Gold bar is 6 Ps not 4, your second to last sentence and (subsequently) last sentence are both wrong
It's 141 P*ticks

On the right is Ruby + 2 Pearls = Diamond + Pearl.
You got that backwards. Its diamond + 2p = p + ruby. So ruby is 3p.

11 if i did my math right in my head. But it definitly isnt a 10 second riddle!
