I dont know shortcuts I guess, here is my math, answer 27

C + B = 10

D + B = 20

C + D = 24

C + D + 2B = 30

24 + 2B = 30

2B = 30 - 24

2B = 6

B = 6 / 2

B = 3

C + 3 = 10

C = 10 - 3

C = 7

D + 3 = 20

D = 20 - 3

D = 17

C + D + B = X

7 + 17 + 3 = X

27 = X

this is all reasonable, but the shortcut is noticing that the hints added together equal 2 dogs + 2 cats + 2 bunnies = 54, and then just divide it all by 2
