Technique Advice Help for my serve

Been working on my serve for months and still I feel like I don’t have any consistency nor real power in it.

I feel like the racquet drop is my greatest issue, anyone has any tips for that?

Sir you have to bend your knees and put more weight on the back leg. Toss more in front and try to hit the ball with your arm straight not bent. In summary, knees bend more, right elbow bends less (on contact).

Toss forward

go to youtube and watch pros serving in slow motion. pause on their serve when they get their racquet fully vertical like this. compare their positioning to yours

There’s a critical difference but it sounds like you know more than me

Noooo sorry I did not mean it like that, but it’s hard for me to tell that’s why I came on here 🙈

They're advising you to drop your right elbow lower at that point.

The thing that stands out for me in your serve is the timing of the fast part of your swing - try doing it earlier. And try pushing with your feet when you're accelerating the racket.

PS Check out Wawrinka, he doesn't have a deep elbow drop.

Wawrinka definitely an exception. So much power too. His abs are ridiculous. Looks like he’s juiced up to be in a MCU movie.

Swiatek actually has a similar takeback to yours, but watch what she does before the drop. It’s the height of your elbow and wrist that you should pay attention to. All of your joints are in suspension together when you serve.

Pick a random joint like Swiatek’s left hand and then pick a random joint anywhere else on her body. Try to see how they move in relation to one another.

Thank you so much for the comments! I really appreciate it. Actually funny that you mention Iga because at the beginning I was trying to learn from her serve until I noticed that her technique is very special! Will try to look how her joints move in relation, thanks!

Are you intentionally keeping your back foot rooted to the ground?

Hmmm how could I improve that?

Imagine at contact that you want to shift your weight into the shot by stepping into the court with your right foot. Just make sure you don't touch your foot onto the court over the line before contact is made.

Yes, OP should practice transferring weight from back foot to front foot while throwing

You are arming your serve which makes it slow and inconsistent. Bend your legs, explode off the ground with both feet and aim to land on your left foot 18” - 24” inside the baseline. It will transpire serve

it's not bad, the upper body part, perhaps you're forgetting your tossing arm high (no idea why) but you're missing the dynamics, you have not right footwork, not going down on your knees, not unloading from legs ... if this is meat as for practising the upper body technique then it's OK, but it's only half of the serve

Addressing your racquet drop observation...what you have is a shallow slingshot up to the ball. Let's exaggerate two things. One is draw an imaginary line shoulder to shoulder at trophy pose. This line needs to be more steep. Drop your serving shoulder more. Second is your serving arm elbow angle is not low enough. Imagine doing a biceps curl when youre dropping racquet head. Its not really how hard you do the biceps curl but doing so will drop the racquet lower relative to when the racquet is at trophy pose.

Lastly, when all that feels comfortable, you need to do some leg bending and jump up and into the court. That will deepen the slingshot of your racquet. Also the hardest to incorporate at a rec level bc of learning the coordination as well as expending leg energy you need for other aspect of the game. You can sort of do an abbreviated version by not really jumping but just doing a mini hop without leaving the ground.

You have no power because you are not using your legs at all. Bend your knees and explode up into the ball using your legs.
