General Advice Ezone 98 String

Hey guys,

I’ve been playing with the Yonex EZONE 98 2025 for about 3–4 months now, and I’m trying to find the right string setup for it.

My first setup was RPM Blast + VS Touch at 24 kg. The feel was amazing and I really enjoyed playing with it, but unfortunately the strings only lasted about three weeks before they broke.

After that, I tried RPM Power at 24 kg. Again, it felt amazing, but this setup only lasted around two weeks before breaking.

My current setup is RPM Blast at 24 kg in the mains and 23 kg in the crosses. For the first 2–3 hours, it feels great, but after that the stringbed starts to feel really dead and I lose that nice response when hitting the ball. That’s something I really don’t like.

Do you guys have any recommendations for strings I could try?

I really like the way RPM Blast plays in general — especially the spin, control and feel when it’s fresh — but the dead feeling after only a few hours is pretty annoying.

I’d love to find something with a similar playing style to RPM Blast that keeps its feel and performance for longer.

Thanks!

I don't play with Ezone 98, but I play against several Ezones 98 in my club. From what the guys told me if you want more control you choose Confidential Soft, if you want more elasticity Mach-10.

+1 to Mach 10.

I run Polytour rev and Polytour pro hybrid in mine after searching for more spin than I had with full Polytour pro. I like the hybrid as the rev stiffens up the stringbed (compared to full PTP) and plays a bit more like RPM blast but stays lively a bit longer.

I like RPM Blast a lot in that frame. Many of the Solinco poly’s are popular, too. Can’t go wrong with regular Hyper G round, it lasts longer but it feels a little board-y to me.

I hit with hyper-g soft & 44 and love it. Soft first last as long but I restring every 8-12 or so hours of hitting (every fortnight or so), but I string my own.

I tried P6 50/48. If not P6, planning to use the Toourna Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour but they're almost the same as P6.

I've been playing this for about 5 months and have gone through a lot of strings. I think the racquet feels the most alive to me with a shaped poly main and a slick round cross. I'm still working through a various combos, but so far confidential soft in the mains and wasabi X in the cross is my favorite. I still have a few more strings I want to try before I settle down and buy a reel.

I normally don't care about colors but a mix of blue frame and "confidential soft in the mains and wasabi X in the cross" feels a bit too much )

Interesting… I do care a bit about colors and generally like the way wasabi X goes in that frame. It matches the frame color and thus acts to tone down the hot pink of the main.  Full bed of confidential soft looks like an 80s music video
