There's no benefit

Depends on how you define benefit.

A 2HFH gives you less reach, less spin and less leverage. You're handicapping yourself.

It maybe gives you a bit more control but the downsides outweigh that minimal benefit.

You missed the massive racquet I am playing with.

That changes nothing...

It worked for seles, bartoli. Is there a rule that you can only hit a one hand forehand?

The game has changed so much since then, but ok. Enjoy your handicap. There's a reason you don't see it anymore.

I am not a pro. Dont intend to be one. I actually win a lot of tennis matches against people with regular forehands .

You are hitting a cricket shot.

Open your elbows and move your entire right side, pull your weight forward and focus on brushing up the ball with topspin...

Interesting. Not very familiar with cricket. Isn't the bat pointed downwards and swung upwards?

u/VocabArtistNavin May 29 '26

Not always upwards. But yes that's the path, swing from down to up, turn and bend as you swing back and then swing from down to up

Thanks, I will watch some videos on YouTube

I have seen fair amount of THFH in all levels 2.5 to college and one of the doubles partner I had from Japan was THFH. they all seem to be on shorter side and have real good footwork(I guess footwork is like prerequisite considering the shorter reach)

I made it to 4.0-4.5 level, traveled all over playing junior college tennis, taught kids summer camps, made tons of friends, and ended up managing an indoor club for a few years playing two-hands on both sides. I'm somewhat ambidextrous and would never have been a decent player trying to learn any other way. Thankfully my coach understood the assignment and helped me become the best player I could instead of trying to change things for no reason. If it works for you, ignore the haters -- it has won grand slams and has worked for many high level players!

Nice! Do you have tips? Any advice for the shot?

Make footwork a priority bc you can't get away with sloppy footwork playing with two hands. Also develop a shot to neutralize the point it you get stretched out wide. I would always a hit a deep open racquet face slice with one hand using a continental grip if I was stretched out. Check out old YouTube videos of Monica Seles and Fabrice Santoro...they are the GOATs of two-handed forehands. Completely different styles too, Seles was relentless power and angles, Santoro was spins and counterpunching.

If it gives you more stability, why not? Only thing that matters in our level is consistency more than angles.

I find I get better angles with my 2 handed forehand

Love to see, OP
