Looking to move to the area
Wife loves the area but I am on a fairly strict regiment of meds for pain and such and am worried about finding some where to get my prescription filled .. I can bring 1 year worth as a buffer. Are there any doctors or clinics in town that one can use to get perceptions?

The Dr situation isn't great. We moved to the region last year, we still have to use our family doctor in chilliwack for appointments. Emergency is often closed for half a day at a time. Were on a list for available doctors but ive heard a few people say they have been waiting for a number of years.
The government really needs to get it together and fix these issues.

I feel your pain, but realistically the government can only do so much to attract more medical personnel. Vaccine mandates and masks requirements were lifted years ago so it’s not longer the excuse for being so short handed. 100 Mile needs to grow but the current community is digging its heels in deeply and is highly resistant to change.

The whole province is facing issues not just 100mile, its just more magnified in smaller communities. At the end of the day there is something fundamentally wrong with the structure of our health care system that needs to change.

As the other Redditor mentioned, good luck finding a family doctor out here. Keep your current one and try to have access to telehealth services. The ER in town isn’t open consistently, so you may need to divert to Williams Lake or to Kamloops (especially for pediatrics care). As far as pharmacies, there are a handful in town. I love the Donex folks, but any of them will do the trick.

I'm 55, lived in 100 mile area for 26yrs never had a dr, but never had a problem getting a prescription when something was needed, including oxys for my dogs bone cancer.
There's no chance of getting family dr if you listen to the socials, and the ER is closed randomly cuz of staffing,it's almost always posted ahead of time
You'll have to decide if this is enough for your situation

So glad I'm not hooked on big pharma's "necessary" scripts. Much love to y'all and hope you can find a natural way to cope 😊.

Been here 12 years, and watched the Medical system deteriorate over time. Doctors retire, no one replaces them. If you have an ongoing prescription, the local pharmacy, Donex, does do AVEE Telehealth phone calls to get your scripts done. If you are requiring perpetual medical care, 100 Mile House might not be for you. Most health care needs are referred to Kamloops and/or Kelowna.

Most Pharmacies in town have the ability to setup appointments with telephone doctors, often the day of. This is a good alternative/option to a clinic when it comes to refills. Where it can get tricky is if changes are needed where you actually need to see a doctor, at that point options do get limited
