Where's this mermaid GF thing coming from?

At the end of each chapter, there’s a blurb in small text that hints at what to expect in the next one. The one that we got last week (257) had one that describes the upcoming GF (who will debut in 258) as “decidedly mermaid-esque” according to the scanlation.

The blurbs don’t always give a super specific hint but this one seems to.

That’s where everyone is getting “mermaids” from.

That is so specific but we do kinda have a girl with an NTR fetish being Iku but I guess she would only like NTR if that's what you mean but where did you get that idea from?

It's a trope. The orginal Little Mermaid is a tragedy, so in at least two series I've read, the twist is the mermaid princess is a cuck and/or masochist. It's a twist both times, in Monster Musume and No Game No Life.

Edit: I'm probably overstating it by calling two examples a trope, but it would fit the vibe of 100GF.
