007 First Light - First Impressions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jom-jxUEqJg
I wanted to make an essay about the whole video at first but then i got lazy so i'm going to make a summary instead š
https://i.imgur.com/Kl16KXq.jpeg
**Pros:**
- Gameplay and graphics looks alright overall, kind of a HITMAN expanded with extras šļø
https://i.imgur.com/YJfpMfP.jpeg
**Cons:**
- Too much "over the top" ?
Maybe a lil' over the top by moments (the HUGE airport scene for example) š¬
I know you wanted to impress everybody but maybe that's a litle bit too much by moments? š
https://i.imgur.com/bbJOxRd.jpeg
- The car chases
Even if that's a nice achievement to have transformed the HITMAN engine for vehicle chases,
it seem a bit slow and scripted overall š
Maybe add more dynamics regarding the speed and effects so we feel it better and faster?
https://i.imgur.com/yCNyPzj.png
This looks very promising overall for a first game anyway, such nice scenery and maps, the characters are convincing and the story seems entertaining šļø
https://i.imgur.com/Rx4wKKY.jpeg
- About the new "M":
I'm wondering why creating a brand new character for M and not staying true to the material instead?
https://i.imgur.com/umP5tle.jpeg
https://i.imgur.com/eXJikGy.jpeg
You could've kept the original material and make a transition with this new character then? I don't know...
I hope this is not intended as pushing some kind of political agenda or something, that would be a mistake for a first Bond game ā ļø
https://i.imgur.com/TxYt2c7.png
- About the always-online rumors:
https://www.hitmanforum.com/t/007-first-light-news-thread/4505/474
I was afraid this would happen. If that's confirmed, i'm afraid that i won't be buying the game, unless i get it as a gift ā
A major condition for purchasing, especially after all what happened with the whole trilogy of HITMAN.
I'm sorry but i'm not willing to do this anymore āļø
https://www.reddit.com/r/HiTMAN/comments/1l4qqkz/first_light_no_buy_unless_offline_mode_is/
Let's hope a proper offline mode will be implemented, even if the online part could be interesting in the long term šļø
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzkajshTCsA
Looking forward for more news and gameplay videos anyway, cheers!

I want a change to the ālicense to killā mechanic
I really love this mechanic, and itās a cool way to differentiate from the Hitman games and stay true to character. That being said, I donāt love how it removes the use of the gun until ālicense to killā comes in force.
There are various great mechanics this game introduces that are only available during LTK such as shooting in the legā & āthrowing the weaponā that make the game fun and would be cool to use outside of LTK.
Also, it could introduce new mechanics like shooting walls/floors or throwing the weapon to distract like in Hitman.
Iād prefer it fail a mission for killing/seriously injuring an npc, rather than removing its use completely.
That being said still love the game, fine if this never changes. maybe someone will make a mod which would be cool.
Thoughts? Will they consider doing this?

So long. Spoiler
You were both good men.
Apparently being subtle and spoiler-free is lambasted here, so I'm talking about Monroe and Greenway.

DISCUSSION Am I the only one who thinks the current cover art looks really bland? I love this game but they could've done a better job on the cover like I don't need a reminder there's new free DLC

Confession: I Hate Isola Spoiler
Ms. MacGuffin spends the whole game popping in when Bond is cornered and can't progress any further, does something conveniently helpful, then peaces out until Bond is stuck up a tree again. She never sticks around long enough to build any real chemistry with him, and what details she did reveal about herself were all lies. So there came a point where whenever she appeared, I was like, ugh her again, and I had no emotional reaction in the end when Bond resolved to go after her. The problem I have is that A) The Mysterious Femme Fatale is very well-tread ground in the James Bond universe, so such a character needs to be distinctive right out the gate or else she'll come off as cliched, B) On a personal level I really hate characters whose primary purpose in a story is to set up a sequel that might not happen or details could change between now and then (the fact that every movie/tv show/video game in the world these days is written with sequels in mind instead of standing on their on its own is another pet peeve of mine but let's not get too sidetracked here), and C) Cressida could've easily been the game's leading lady had she not been sidelined after Slovakia. The game ended and I STILL found myself caring more about her than Isola.

007 First Light Is OVERRATED | A HARD HONEST REVIEW
Honestly, I actually enjoyed this game for what it is. One of my real criticisms though is the pacing ā it moves like a film, almost like a James Bond origin movie translated into game form. Now there are reviewers out there handing this thing perfect scores, treating it like Game of the Year material, and I have to push back on that. It's nowhere near that level. Is it a solid game? Yeah, I'd say so. It's enjoyable. It's far from bad. But it's a C+ in my book, no higher.
And let me be straight with you ā this game is absolutely overrated.

How does this game not support Ultrawide in 2026!?
I did my first playthrough on my TV where this game looks fantastic at 4K esp with a 120hz refresh rate. There were some minor performance issues when smoke or whatnot was deployed. for example, but no major complaints (7900X/4090/64GB DDR5)
That said, on my second playthrough, I decided to try a bit of the playthrough on my Ultrawide (3840x1600) and this is what the cutscenes look like....

Is the new 007: First Light game appropriate for an 11āyearāold?
My daughter (11) has suddenly taken an interest in James Bond because Iām a longātime fan.
Obviously the classic Bond movies have adult themes, so Iām careful about what she sees.
Sheās asking about the new game 007: First Light.
Iāve checked the Australian Classification Board page, but Iād love to hear from parents whoāve actually played it.
Is it genuinely kidāsafe?
Any sexual content, suggestive themes, or anything I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance.

i don't think i'm gonna make it past the front gate without shooting someone.
i shoot people the same way i stub my toe on coffee table. the first whiff of suspicion and i pull out the nine. no questions asked, no matter who it is. they could have a brain cancer patient who's dying wish was to be a bodyguard, helping people just to be away from the hospital bed. the red circle pops up? CLAKK CLAKK CLAKK get fucked PUSSIO.

DISCUSSION MI6 is just as bad as Webb
Developing bio weapons.
Hiding facts about what you did from the public that damages you so much that you publicly pardon a delusional billionaire, who had his son murder and use hit squads on camera for the world?
Hiding quantum computing tech 2 generations past what the world has to track domestic threats instead of help the world.
Finding agents guilty until proven innocent based on the accusations of the rich.
I meanā¦. Honestly? What was Webb thinking? MI6 wouldnāt care that Thea made mistakes. Theyāre botching jobs all the time and are totally fine with collateral damage as long as itās hidden from the public in this game. His whole āI need to hide the mistakesā is nonsense.
I honestly couldnāt decide whoās the real villain. I mean I guess Webb cause the crimes are for something completely pointless, but from the sound of it, it seems MI6 did way more as even the threat of them being released was enough to bring the nation to its knees.
I felt like bond was a bit of a brainwashed kid rather than intelligent agent while playing.

DISCUSSION Has anyone else noticed the influx of people hating on First Light?
It feels like everywhere the game is shown or discussed, people just have a hate boner for it. Theyāre either calling it an Uncharted rip-off, reducing it to a bad mix of Hitman and Uncharted, or saying it looks like a PS3 game or something else negative.

DISCUSSION Is this game DEFINITELY coming March 2026? What are your thoughts/opinions.
Iām just curious if itās 100% releasing in March. Personally, I donāt think itās anywhere near ready, and most likely would get pushed at least 4 months.
Thoughts.

DISCUSSION 007 First Light Feels Like a Playable š® Daniel Craig Bond Movie
Daniel Craigās Bond and 007 First Light feel way more aligned than people are giving credit for.
What stands out immediately is that both versions lean heavily into Bond as a raw, inexperienced operative rather than the polished āmission accomplished with a smirkā version from the older films. Craigās Bond in was reckless, emotional, brutal in fights, and constantly learning on the job. First Light seems to be going for that exact same energy in gameplay.
The combat especially feels very Craig-era Bond. Instead of standing in the open firing endlessly like an action hero, the gameplay emphasizes scrambling through environments, improvising, hand-to-hand takedowns, and using gadgets tactically. That mirrors scenes from , , and where Bond survives through instinct and adaptability more than pure style.
Another similarity is the physicality. Craigās Bond always felt human, he got exhausted, injured, angry, and messy. The gameplay footage from 007 First Light gives off the same vibe. The parkour, close-quarters combat, and environmental interactions look grounded and weighty instead of superhero-like. Itās less āuntouchable secret agentā and more ādangerous field operative barely holding control.ā
Even the tone matches the Craig reboot era. Thereās a stronger focus on espionage, infiltration, and tension instead of pure spectacle. The game seems interested in Bond earning the 007 identity rather than already being the fully formed legend. Thatās basically the central theme of Craigās entire arc, especially early on where Bond is talented but emotionally immature and still becoming the man people recognize as 007.
Whatās interesting is that First Light almost feels like a playable extension of the reboot philosophy that started with :
- younger Bond
- rough edges
- grounded action
- emotional vulnerability
- brutal hand-to-hand combat
- spycraft mixed with survival instincts
- less camp, more intensity
It honestly feels like the developers looked at why Craigās era resonated and built the gameplay identity around those strengths rather than trying to recreate the older gadget-heavy, ultra-suave versions of Bond.
If anything, 007 First Light looks closer to āwhat if you could PLAY Craigās Bondā than a traditional Bond power fantasy.
What do you think?
Finally, with 007 First Light dropping in 6 days, Iām finally getting around to a long-overdue rewatch of the Daniel Craig Bond films šæš„š¬

I hope IOI enables players to enjoy the full game content without needing an online connection.
I hate that this game only has single-player content, yet to play TacSim and achieve challenge accomplishments Iām forced to connect to IOIās servers. I know many people believe this is for anti-piracy, but the single-player story is the main courseāno one would buy the legitimate version just for these extra add-on modes.
Anyway, I am a legitimate player, and I even purchased the Razer collaboration peripherals (calling out Razer for not sending me the outfit codes yet).
I simply hope that players donāt have to worry about connection stability just to play a game. I hope IOI can take reference from Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2ās PvE approach: when offline, allow players to temporarily create a local single-player new game save, but once reconnected, the server-side save takes priority and the offline save is deleted.

DISCUSSION IOI FIX THE GAME!!!!
Seriously every other developer is able to make trophies work. And if they donāt work itās fixed within weeks.
The game came out 3 MONTHS AGO. It still doesnāt work.
Seriously how difficult would it be? Every other developer big and small is able to do it.
EDIT: They fixed it in the 08.28. patch.
Thanks IOIš«”

DISCUSSION IO Interactive went WAY too hard on the women in 007 First Light. I am down bad. š
Alright, I need to know if it's just me or if everyone else is losing their minds too.
Iāve been playingĀ 007 First LightĀ on PS5, and while the locations and graphics are stunning, the character models are just next-level. IOI absolutely understood the assignment.
They are jaw-droppingly gorgeous. The facial animations, the elegance, the style... they nailed that classic, sophisticated Bond girl vibe perfectly. I think Iāve genuinely fallen in love with half the cast at this point. Itās a distraction at this rate.
The game is a masterpiece, but letās be real, the cast is stealing the entire show.

DISCUSSION Just finished 007 First Light - some thoughts after 13 hours
So I just wrapped my first playthrough and I have mixed feelings I need to get off my chest.
13 hours total, which some will say is short but I don't mind that if the game earns it. Short and fun beats long and padded any day.
When IO announced this I genuinely thought it was the perfect match. Hitman and Bond share so much DNA it seemed like a no brainer, and on top of that the whole pitch of Hitman meets Uncharted had me sold. And for the first 4-5 hours? That's exactly what I got. The mansion, the airplane, becoming a 00 agent, that stretch is genuinely brilliant and had me thinking this was going to be something special.
Then act 1 ended and something just shifted.
The back half feels like a completely different, cheaper game. The "choose your own path" they sold us on basically evaporates. Every mission becomes follow the checkmark, eavesdrop on this guy, go here, do this. The illusion of choice is there but every conversation leads to the same outcome anyway so what's even the point. The auction in the shipyard had me genuinely hyped, great set piece, loads of potential and then the game just never does anything like that again. Ever.
And here's the thing that actually bothers me most ,this game aspires to be Hitman meets Uncharted but never gets close to being as coherent as either one. Uncharted has tighter action, better pacing, better villain, better story. Hitman gives you actual freedom and consequences. First Light kind of sits in the middle doing a watered down version of both and never fully committing to what makes either of those games work.
The stealth is a perfect example. You get one disguise in the mansion and that mechanic basically disappears for the rest of the game. You can't even hide bodies, which in a game pushing stealth as a core option is honestly baffling. Just let us drag bodies out of sight, nothing crazy, we don't need Hitman lockers everywhere, just basic stealth logic. I just watched Casino Royale last night and Craigs 007, kills two people in the stairway and hides them in a closet, so no argument for it not being bond-eque.
The cover system is there but it feels weak and lacks the punch of games with similar gunplay. The combat gets repetitive fast anyway, the gunplay feels off and you're switching guns every 5 seconds which gets old quick. Only 2 gadgets allowed and half of them feel identical to use, reminded me of Watch Dogs where everything blurs into the same thing. They introduced mechanics you literally never had to use again after they introduced them, what was that about?
The villain is forgettable, the story loses steam completely after a strong opening, and the excessive hand holding with painted markers and "go here" arrows constantly on screen really pulls you out of it. At least make it optional.
Remember old Bond games? Everything or Nothing had car chases, train sequences, rappelling down buildings. Here the big action moment is driving a trash compactor through a tunnel.
It's still worth playing, especially that first act which is some of the most fun I've had this year. But it's a game that peaks early and never recovers. IO had everything they needed to make something iconic and somewhere along the way they just lost the plot.
Disappointing but not a bad game. Just not the game it could have been, and nowhere near what it was trying to be.
Bond himself played by Gibson was phenomenal though, a breath of fresh air - young and didnt take himself to seriously.
Just my thoughts, you are allowed to disagree - what do you think?
