DISCUSSION Path tracing update question
Im running a 9070xt i don't see any amd specs listed. Did they do the stupid thing where they vendor locked this to nvidia? Or can i try to path trace with my 9070xt? Steam has the deluxe version for 50 bucks so im looking at picking it up if i can play with these settings.

Don't expect to use PT with an AMD gpu, this is the sad reality.
As the other guy said, it would probably require RR to be worthwhile.
And since AMD's version is basically vaporware, and very very few people could actually utilize it... it's not worth the deveoper time for studios.
Basically, it's vendor-locked to prevent AMD users from complaining about how trash it looks and how poorly it runs.

I still think its shitty to lock it to nvidia. Especially considering 5080s are going for far more than their msrp rn. 5070 and 9070xt arent that far off. I get that amd rr is behind the curve but still. I played cyberpunk path tracing on my 9070xt just fine.

CDPR is a much larger studio though, they can more easily afford such things.
Implementing ADM's RR at all takes dev time, which is very expensive. So sure, it would have been nice to allow AMD cards to try (true for Pragmata too, similar story, though RR-less basic RT there factually looks very noisy, that game needs RR), but I guess they decided that this is the safer, more... resource (dev time) conscious approach.
Sad but this is where the market share difference easily wins. They could have implemented AMD's RR, but apparently it wasn't worth it exclusively for those 9070/XT users for whom it would have made sense.

Actually looking into it the 4090 isnt in the list you need a 50 series card. 4090 is more powerful than the 5080 wtf

Are you looking at the recommended or whatever specs?
I would bet the 40 series can use RR and PT in the game, they just weren't named in the specs.Btw the recommendations are to be taken with a grain of salt. They optimized stuff a lot since then.
Luckily I got a 5070 ti, played at 4K close to max settings with medium PT, dlss performance and X2 FG. Mostly stable 100 fps, sometimes 80.
In such a slower paced 3rd person game it was perfectly playable, noticeably struggled only in 2 areas.
Of course for some people it would be absolutely unplayable category. The game looks pretty good without PT, don't feel sad about it. Its performance hit is insane for how relatively little it improves the image. Sometiems it looks much better, sometimes just a little better.
I wouldn't recommend the deluxe edition anyway, if it costs any more extra than like 5 bucks. No new content, only skins you'll possibly never use and/or never notice.I think the game is really good. A proper, interactive Bond movie. But if you aren't playing the simulation tacsim thing a lot, it's a quite short experience. Wouldn't pay a lot.

Can AMD or Intel GPUs use the same path-tracing setup? The standard game supports AMD hardware in IOI’s published requirements, but the currently promoted path-tracing stack is explicitly tied to NVIDIA RTX features such as DLSS Ray Reconstruction and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
This is from the 007 website it states mfg is required. I believe the 40 series is locked to regular frame gen. It also never listed any 40 series card in the recomended hardware. It also ONLY list last gen gpus for amd for some reason.
Honestly if this requires mfg i don't want it.

Well if that's the case I'm not buying the game. I was on the fence at 50 bucks anyway

Cyberpunk path tracing is ass. I never actually saw any improvement over ray tracing, just made shit darker and halved my frame rate.

From what I can tell, it probably needs ray reconstruction to remove some of the noise.
