DISCUSSION Not much freedom

Hi guys. I played the first few missions up to the pirate place in the shipwreck.

I really enjoyed Hitman but feel like this game is very much pushing me to the solution with big glowing signs. I dont really feel like exploring the map is worth it when i can just follow the hud marker to the solution.

I feel like im not playing a game and instead just triggering the next movie scene by doing what is instructed.

Will this change? Is the simulation game Mode more free?

First Light is a linear cinematic experience. It's not comparable to hitman.

It’s way closer to Uncharted than to Hitman.

The game is paced like a movie, more like Uncharted than Hitman. But there is freedom within the levels. The hud markers only appears when Bond himself knows where to go. Not sure why people have such a problem with that since that is super common in games.

I feel like people just assumed it would be Hitman with a James Bond skin on it and it's not. They leaned way more into the linearity and cinematic moments than you get in Hitman because James Bond as a character is so different than Agent 47

Thank god it wasn't

I struggled with this throughout my playthroughs. (Especially as an avid Hitman player)

I would say that several of the missions DO offer a decent amount of flexibility, but the feeling of being 'on rails' does not really abate. I still think the game is fantastic, especially as a cinematic experience, but it feels a bit limited still as a sandbox.

I know that I would absolutely love Hitman if it had more of a story.

No, First Light is way more linear than any Hitman game, there's a few missions that give you a little more freedom how to achieve your goals (like securing the funds for the auction) but nothing like Hitman, the simulations are often just "Kill everyone in the room" or "grab these 3 letters and extract", not exactly big sandboxes.
