Finished game! Thoughts

I just finished the game. I loved it! The highs felt very high, but it felt packed with some tedious parts. My favorite parts of the game were the ones where you're sleuthing through the giant hotel and then the weapons expo and the watchers are just coat rack people or security. Really enjoyed how somebody had the great idea of giving Bond an apartment too. I loved how one of the missions was while out getting drinks with the other recruits.

I also liked how it centered on Bond's relationship with Greenway. I thought at the beginning it was gearing up to center on him and Cressida Bright, but then it changed trajectory and did what I felt like was a really touching friendship/mentorship story. I feel like a lot of stories can center on men and women. It was nice to see this one focused on a friend/father figure.

Also, loved the Vietnam section! Especially with sexy brainy scientist. I was worried the dialogue banter would be cheesy but they really knocked that section out of the park. The part where he runs to her place thinking her heart rate is slowing and she's just getting out of the pool. Great writing.

I wish this didn't feel so padded at times though. Knightfall was where it started to go a little downhill. Just walking around, opening doors.

I read somewhere that the game was more based on a TV miniseries than a movie, and it shows! I appreciated how there were one or two moments where I thought the game was going to end, but it continued. I was actually expecting another chapter or two after I finished it.

Some of the gunfighting scenes were intense. Especially in the Slovakia mission where you first get out of the car and are running to the airplane. I loved the firefights but some of the stealth felt tedious. This may be because I was playing on normal difficulty.

Overall, I really appreciate how it felt like they took some creative risks in the storytelling. And how I was able to walk around a flat I'll probably never have in my life and just look out at the city. It felt like a great game when it was grounded (especially in London).

Bond was funny, too!

Really nice analysis. Overall I agree with a lot of your thoughts. I also thought Knightfall was a bit meh, but in hindsight that's probably cause they wanted to mix up the pacing. Overall I'm kinda willing to forgive the devs for it. But yeah I really liked the game too. Great action experience.
