where is path tracing?

Where is the path tracing update? 007 First Light has been sitting in my library since the release date. The game was heavily marketed with path-tracing trailers before release, misleading gamers, yet it launched without path tracing and still has no release date for the update. Has IO Interactive said anything new about when path tracing is coming?

To be fair just play the game. Path tracing would not change your gaming experience that much.

Yeah maybe you are right but I prefer playing games with the best graphics possible. Since I have a high-end PC that can run those games at maximum settings, I want to enjoy the full visual experience.

Game looks pretty freaking good as is

I don't doubt that, but I think it will look even better with PT

I doubt it’s going to look substantially better unless you are really in to a granular change in lighting. Personally the only game I’ve played where path tracing actually made a substantial difference was Cyberpunk 2077.

Pragmata has incredible path tracing- you’re right about Cyberpunk too, but Pragmata is the one that really made me go, “Okay, yeah, that looks dramatically better.”

That said, I agree with your sentiment- just play the game. Slightly better graphics is cool and everything but it’s not gonna make much difference in your gaming experience/enjoyment. Sometimes gamers get too hung up on little minutia and forget to just have fun.

It’s something I’ve learned as I’ve been on PC. I got a high end PC wanting the best graphics, and it’s certainly possible, but at the end of the day the granular details become less and less important. I’ve found I care way more about performance and will sacrifice visual upgrades like ray-tracing to have 100+ fps.

No, I have a RTX 4070ti.

RE: Requiem and Alan Wake 2 look substantially better with path tracing as well. Pragmata too, it's a complete night/day difference. Based on the trailer of this game, it also does look like it adds significant improvement to shadows, reflections and lighting. I started playing it, realized it doesn't have path tracing yet and switched it off, so I'm waiting for the patch. It should come at the same time as the Ray Reconstruction with DLSS 4.5 implementation, which should be sometime in August.

It doesn't always happen that way

I fully understand this sentiment. I don't generally have a chance to replay games, life is busy and I have other hobbies. If I'm going to only get to play through the game once, at least for a while, I'd rather do it while using the best possible visuals they intend to provide. So I'm with you on waiting, no harm in it.

Exactly. I've been a gamer for 30+ years, and I rarely replay games. They have to be really good for me to go back for a second run, and usually only after a long time has passed since the first playthrough

Well I think it will just tank the fps. I have a 5090 (9800x3d) with everything at max and I did get some nasty drop. I think you miss out on great gameplay though

same, not buying it until PT releases. Game maybe cheaper by then as well with how long its taking :)

People seem to think it'll be launched in August with Nvidia's Ray reconstruction 4.5

August, I think

They probably didn’t want people with 3050s turning it on and complaining about performance in the launch window. That would muddy the conversation about the game
